Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2: * K2, p3, k2, p6, rep from * to last 7 sts, end k2, p3, k2.
Row 3: Knit.
Row 4: * K7, p6, rep from * to last 7 sts, end k7.
Row 5: * K7, CB6, rep from * to last 7 sts, end k7.
Row 6: Rep Row 2.
Row 7: Knit.
Row 8: Rep Row 4.
Rep these 8 rows for Cable Pat.
Note
On back and fronts, size Small will have 8 cables, size Medium will have 9 cables, size Large will have 10 cables and size X-Large will have 11 cables. Sizes Small and Large will have cables at either side of center of V-neck like photo. Sizes Medium and X-Large will have a cable up the center.
Back
With smaller straight needles, cast on 98(110-122-134) sts.
Ribbing: Row 1 (RS): K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.
Row 2: P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 3” from beg, end on RS. Change to larger needles and p the next row, inc 13(14-15-16) sts across – 111(124-137-150) sts. Work even in Cable Pat until piece measures 17” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2(4-6-8) rows, then 2 sts at beg of the next 2(4-5-6) rows. Dec 1 st at each end of the next 1(2-2-2) rows – 99(100-105-110) sts. Work even until armholes measure 8 1/2(9-9 1/2-10)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders: Bind off 10(10-11-12) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 11 sts at beg of the next 4 rows, end on WS. Bind off remaining 35(36-39-42) sts for back neck.
Front
Work same as back until armholes measure 1 1/2(2-2 1/2-3)”, end on WS. Mark center 1(2-1-2) sts.
Shape V-Neck: Next Row (RS): Continuing armhole decs if necessary, work to marker, sl center 1(2-1-2) sts onto holder, work to end. Working both sides at once, continue to work armhole decs and AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge every RS row 14(14-18-20) times, then every other RS row 3(3-1-0) times – 32(32-33-34) sts each side. Work even until armholes measure 8 1/2(9-9 1/2-10)”, end on WS. Bind off 10(10-11-12) sts at each armhole edge once, then 11 sts twice.
Sleeves
With smaller straight needles, cast on 50(54-58-58) sts. Work even in ribbing same as back for 3”, end on RS. Change to larger needles and p the next row, inc 9(5-1-1) st – 59 sts. Work in Cable Pat, inc 1 st each side every 1 1/2(1 1/4-1-3/4)” 10(12-15-18) times, working incs in Cable Pat as sts become available – 79(83-89-95) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 20” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 69(73-79-85) sts.
Dec Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, work to last 3 sts, SSK, k1 – 67(71-77-83) sts. Rep this dec every RS row 9(10-12-13) times more, end on WS – 49(51-53-57) sts. Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 39(41-43-47) sts.
Finishing
Sew right shoulder seam.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at left front shoulder, pick up and k40 sts along left front neck edge, k1 from holder, place marker, M1k(k1 from holder-M1k-k1 from holder), pick up and k40 sts along right front neck edge, then 32(32-36-40) sts along back neck edge – 114(114-118-122) sts. DO NOT join.
Row 1 (WS): * P2, k2, rep from * to 1 st before marker, p1, sl marker, p1, ** k2, p2, rep from ** to end.
Row 2 (RS): * K2, p2, rep from * to 5 sts before marker, k2, p1, k2 tog, sl marker SSK, p1, k2, ** p2, k2, rep from ** to end – 112(112-116-120) sts. Working in ribbing as established, continue to dec 1 st each side of marker in this manner every RS row until band measures 1”, end on WS. Bind off in ribbing. Sew left shoulder and neckband seam. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
