Working both sides at once, bind off 4(5-7-8-8-9) sts at beg of the next row, then 5(6-6-7-8-9) sts at beg of the next 4 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 5 sts at each neck edge twice.
Left Front
With smaller straight needles, using B, cast on 42(46-50-58-62-70) sts. Change to MC and work in ribbing same as back for 1½", end on RS. Change to larger needles and p the next row, dec 5(5-3-7-5-9) sts across – 37(41-47-51-57-61) sts. Work in Pat St until piece measures 4(4-4½-4½-5-5)” from beg, end on WS.
Dec Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, work to end – 36(40-46-50-56-60) sts. Rep this dec every 2” 3 times more – 33(37-43-47-53-57) sts. Work even until piece measures 12(12-12½-12½-13-13)” from beg, end on WS.
Inc Row (RS): K1, M1k work to end – 34(38-44-48-54-58) sts. Rep this inc every 1” 3 times more. AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 13(13-13½-13½-14-14)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Neck: Next Row (RS): Work to last 3 sts, SSK, k1. Continuing to work inc row as before, dec 1 st at neck edge in this manner every ¾(1-¾-1-¾-1)” 11(10-11-10-11-10) times more. When all side incs have been completed and piece measures 16(16-16½-16½-17-17)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole: Continuing to work neck decs, bind off 3(3-4-5-7-8) sts at beg of the next RS row, then 2 sts at beg of the following RS row. Dec 1 st at armhole edge in same manner as back every RS row 6(8-10-11-12-13) sts. When all armhole and neck decs have been completed, work even on 14(17-19-22-24-27) sts until armhole measures 8(8-8½-8½-9-9)”, end on WS. Bind off 4(5-7-8-8-9) sts at armhole edge once, then 5(6-6-7-8-9) sts twice for shoulder.
Right Front
Work to correspond to right front, reversing all shaping. Work side decs at end of RS rows as SSK, k1. Work side incs at end of RS rows as M1k, k1. Work neck decs at beg of RS rows as k1, k2 tog. Bind off for armhole on WS rows. Work armhole decs at end of RS rows. Bind off for shoulder on WS rows.
Sleeves
With smaller straight needles, using B, cast on 46(46-50-50-54-54) sts. Change to MC and work in ribbing same as back for 5½", end on RS. Change to larger needles and p the next row, inc 1 st at end – 47(47-51-51-55-55) sts. Beg with Row 37, work in Pat St, inc 1 st each side every 1½(1¼-1½-1-1-¾)” – 61(63-65-71-75-81) sts. AT THE SAME TIME, when Row 17 of Pat St has been completed for the second time, complete sleeve in St st with MC only. When all incs have been completed, work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 3(3-4-5-7-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the following 2 rows – 51(53-53-57-57-61) sts.
Dec Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, k to last 3 sts, SSK, k1 – 49(51-51-55-55-59) sts. Rep this dec every RS row 13(13-15-15-15-17) times, end on WS – 23(25-21-25-25-25) sts. Bind off 3(3-2-3-2-2) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2(3-2-3-2-2) sts at beg of the following 2 rows. Bind off remaining 13(13-13-13-17-17) sts.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams, matching stripes.
Left Front/Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle and MC, beg at center back neck, pick up and k16 sts to left shoulder seam, (62-62-64-64-66-66) sts along left front neck edge, then 68(68-70-70-72-72) sts along left front edge – 146(146-150-150-154-154) sts. Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as back for 1½", end on WS. Bind off in ribbing.
Right Front/Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle and MC, beg at lower right front edge, pick up and k68(68-70-70-72-72) sts along right front edge to beg of neck shaping, 62(62-64-64-66-66) sts along right front neck edge to shoulder seam, then 16 sts across remaining back neck edge – 146(146-150-150-154-154) sts. Work same as left front/neckband for ¾”, end on WS.
Buttonhole Row (RS): Work 4(4-5-5-6-6) sts, bind off 2 sts, * work until there are 10 sts on RH needle after bound-off sts, bind off 2 sts, rep from * 4 times more, work to end.
Following Row: Work in ribbing as established, cast on 2 sts over each pair of sts bound off on previous row. Completed same as left frontband. Sew ends of bands tog at center back neck. Sew on buttons.
