BERROCO Metallic FX (25 grs), 13(14-15-16-17) hanks #1012 Multi/Black.

Straight knitting needles, sizes 6 and 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

16” length circular knitting needle, size 6.

1 St Marker.

Gauge

11 sts = 2”; 31 rows = 4” in St st on size 8 needles.

Stitch Glossary

KSP

K1, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (1 st dec’d).

Back

With smaller straight needles, cast on 91(101-113-123-139) sts.

Row 1 (RS): K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.

Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 6” from beg, end on Row 1. Change to larger needles and p the next row, inc 0(1-0-1-1) st at end – 91(102-113-124-140) sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 11” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes: Bind off 5(5-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows.

Next Row (RS): K3, KSP, k to last 5 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k3. P 1 row. Rep these 2 rows 6 times more – 63(74-85-96-110) sts. Work even until armholes measure 8(8-8-1/2-9-9-1/2)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 3(5-5-6-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 3(4-6-7-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.

Next Row (RS): Bind off 3(4-6-7-9) sts, k until there are 5(6-8-9-11) sts on RH needle, join another hank of yarn and bind off center 35(36-35-38-38) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 3(4-6-7-9) sts at beg of the next 3 rows and AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 2 sts at each neck edge once.

Front

Work same as for back until armholes measure 6-1/2(6-1/2-7-7-1/2-8)”, end on WS.

Note: Work decs on left side of neck as sl 1, k1, psso, k2. Work decs on right side of neck as k2, KSP.

Shape Neck: K20(25-31-35-42), join another hank of yarn and bind off center 23(24-23-26-26) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 3 sts at each neck edge once, then 2 sts once. Dec 1 st at each neck edge as in note every RS row 3 times. AT THE SAME TIME, When armholes measure 8(8-8-1/2-9-9-1/2)”, bind off 3(5-5-6-8) sts at each armhole edge once, 3(4-6-7-8) sts once, then 3(4-6-7-9) sts twice.

Sleeves

With smaller straight needles, cast on 57(57-57-61-61) sts. Work in ribbing same as for back until sleeve measures 6” from beg end on Row 1. Change to larger needles and p the next row, decreasing 7(7-7-9-9) sts evenly spaced across – 50(50-50-52-52) sts. Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every other row 0(0-0-5-15) times, every 4th row 3(3-12-13-6) times, then every 6th row 11(11-4-0-0) times – 78(78-82-88-94) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 17(17-16_-15-14)” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Cap: Bind off 5(5-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side in same manner as for back every other RS row 5(5-4-5-4) times, then every RS row 8(8-10-10-12) times. Bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 4 rows. Bind off remaining 22(22-24-28-30) sts.

Finishing

Steam pieces. Sew shoulder seams.

Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back neck, pick up and k23(23-23-24-24) sts across back neck edge, 17 sts along left front neck edge, 24(24-24-26-26) sts across front neck edge, 17 sts along right front neck edge and 23(23-23-24-24) sts across remaining back neck edge – 104(104-104-108-108) sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 3”. Bind off in ribbing. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
