7(7-8-9-10-11) Balls Berroco Plush (50 grs), #1942 Boy Blue (MC) and 1 ball each #1944 Sprout (A), #1924 Jazzy Turquoise (B) and #1933 Lullaby Blue (C)

Straight knitting needles, sizes 8 and 10 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Back

With smaller straight needles, using MC, cast on 52(58-64-70-76-82) sts.  Work even in k1, p1 ribbing for 2”, end on RS.  Change to larger straight needles and p the next row, dec 4 sts evenly spaced across – 48(54-60-66-72-78) sts.  Work even in St st until piece measures 14” from beg, end on WS.  Sl sts onto holder for yoke.


Left Front

With smaller straight needles, using MC, cast on 26(28-32-34-38-40) sts.  Work even in k1, p1 ribbing for 2”, end on RS.  Change to larger straight needles and p the next row, dec 2 sts evenly spaced across – 24(26-30-32-36-38) sts.  Work even in St st until piece measures 14” from beg, end on WS.  Sl sts onto holder for yoke.


Right Front

Work same as left front.


Sleeves

With smaller straight needles, using MC, cast on 28 sts.  Work even in k1, p1 ribbing for 2”, end on RS.  Change to larger straight needles and p the next row, dec 4 sts evenly spaced across – 24 sts.  Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 2 1/2(1 3/4-1 1/2-1 1/4-1 1/4-1)” 6(8-9-11-12-14) times – 36(40-42-46-48-52) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 17 1/2” from beg, end on WS.  Sl sts onto holder for yoke.


Yoke

Note:  Please read through the entire yoke section before starting to knit.

With RS facing, using circular needle and MC, k24(26-30-32-36-38) sts from right front holder, 36(40-42-46-48-52) sts from 1st sleeve holder, 48(54-60-66-72-78) sts from back holder, 36(40-42-46-48-52) sts from 2nd sleeve holder, then 24(26-30-32-36-38) sts from left front holder – 168(186-204-222-240-258) sts.

Row 1 (RS):  K15(15-16-17-17-16), k2 tog, * k32(29-32-39-32-30), k2 tog, rep from * 3(4-4-5-5-6) times more, k to end – 163(180-198-215-233-250) sts.  Working in St st, continue to dec 5(6-6-7-7-8) sts in this manner every RS row 18(18-19-20-22-22) times more, having 1 less st between decs each time – 73(72-84-75-79-74) sts.  AT THE SAME TIME, when 10(10-12-14-18-18) rows of MC have been completed and 143(156-168-173-177-186) sts remain on needle, end on WS.   Join A and, continuing to work decs, work in stripe sequence as follows:

Rows 1 and 2:  Work in St st with A.

Rows 3 and 4:  Join B.  Work in St st with B.

Row 5 (RS):  Join C.  K3(0-0-1-1-2) with B, * k2 with C, k2 with B, rep from * across.

Row 6:  * P2 with B, p2 with C, rep from * across, end p3(0-0-1-1-2) with B.

Rows 7 and 8:  Work in St st with B.

Rows 9 and 10:  Work in St st with A.

Rows 11 and 12:  Work in St st with C.

Rows 13 and 14:  Work in St st with B.

Row 15 (RS):  K3(0-0-1-1-2) with B, * k2 with A, k2 with B, rep from * across.

Row 16:  * P2 with B, p2 with A, rep from * across, end p3(0-0-1-1-2) with B.

Rows 17 and 18:  Work in St st with B.

Rows 19 and 20:  Work in St st with C.

Rows 21 and 22:  Work in St st with A.

Rows 23 and 24:  Work in St st with B.

Rows 25 and 26:   Rep Rows 5 and 6.

Rows 27 and 28:  Work in St st with B.

Next Row (RS):  With A, knit, dec 0(inc 1-dec 9-dec 0-dec 4-inc 1) sts evenly spaced across – 73(73-75-75-75-75) sts.  Purl 1 row.  Change to smaller straight needles and MC.

Neckband Ribbing:  Row 1 (RS):  K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.

Row 2:  P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until ribbing measures 1”, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.


Finishing

Sew side and sleeve seams.

Left Frontband:  With RS facing, using smaller straight needles and MC, beg at top of neckband, pick up and k111(111-113-115-117-119) sts along left front edge.  Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as neckband for 7 rows, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.

Right Frontband:  Beg at lower right front edge, work same as left frontband for 3 rows, end on WS.

Buttonhole Row (RS):  Work 4(4-5-6-4-5) sts, yo, k2 tog, * work 15(15-15-15-16-16) sts, yo, k2 tog, rep from * 5 times more, work to end.  Complete same as left frontband.  Sew on buttons.
