Materials
Berroco Plush Colors (50 grs), 3(4-5) balls #1972 Kiwi (A) for Sweater, 1(1-2) ball(s) for Hat.
Berroco Plush (50 grs), 3(4-4) balls #1944 Sprout (B) for Pants.
Straight knitting needles, sizes 8 and 10 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16” Length circular knitting needle, size 10.
Crochet hook, size 5.50 mm (I).
Separating zipper to fit front opening.
Needle and matching sewing thread.
Gauge
12 sts = 4”; 20 rows = 4” in St st with A or B on size 10 needles.

Sweater
Back
With larger straight needles, using A, cast on 37(39-43) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.
Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows once more, then work even in St st until piece measures 7(8-9)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 33(35-39) sts. Dec 1 st each side every RS row twice – 29(31-35) sts. Work even until armholes measure 5(5 1/2-6)”, end on WS. Bind off all sts for shoulders and back neck.
Left Front
With larger straight needles, using A, cast on 17(19-21) sts. Work in ribbing same as for back for 4 rows, then work even in St st until piece measures 7(8-9)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole: Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next row, k to end – 15(17-19) sts. Dec 1 st at armhole edge every RS row twice – 13(15-17) sts. Work even until armhole measures 2 1/2(3-3 1/2)”, end on RS.
Shape Neck: Next Row (WS): Bind off 3(4-5) sts, p to end – 10(11-12) sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every RS row 4 times – 6(7-8) sts. Work even until armhole measures 5(5 1/2-6)”, end on WS. Bind off all sts for shoulder.
Right Front
Work to correspond to left front reversing all shaping. Bind off for armhole on WS row and for neck on RS row.
Sleeves
With larger straight needles, using A, cast on 21 sts. Work in ribbing same as for back for 4 rows, then work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 2(1 3/4-1 1/2)” 4(5-6) times – 29(31-33) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 8 1/2(9 1/2-10 1/2)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 25(27-29) sts. Dec 1 st each side every RS row 7 times – 11(13-15) sts. Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 7(9-11) sts.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using smaller straight needles and A, beg at right front edge, pick up and k18(19-20) sts along right front neck edge, 23(25-27) sts across back neck edge, then 18(19-20) sts along left front neck edge – 59(63-67) sts. Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as for back for 1”, end on WS. Bind off all sts in ribbing. Sew in zipper using needle and matching thread. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Cut one 8” long strand of A and fold in half. Draw center of strand through hole in zipper tab forming a loop. Pull ends of strand through this loop. Trim ends.
Pants
Left Leg
With larger straight needles, using B, cast on 29(31-33) sts. Work even in St st for 1”, end on WS. Inc 1 st each side on next row, then every 1 3/4(2-2 1/4)” 4 times more – 39(41-43) sts. Work even until piece measures 9(10-11)” from beg, end on WS. With circular needle, knit the sts from straight needle, then set circular needle aside.
Right Leg
Work same as for left leg, leaving all sts on straight needle – 39(41-43) sts.
Joining Rnd: With circular needle, knit the sts of right leg from straight needle – 78(82-86) sts. Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up. Work even in St st (knit EVERY rnd) until piece measures 5(6-7)” above joining rnd. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 1 1/2”. Bind off all sts in ribbing.
Finishing
Sew inseams.
Drawstring: Using crochet hook and 2 strands of B held tog, make a chain 30(31-32)” long. Fasten off. Beg and end at center front, weave drawstring in an out through ribbing 3/4” down from bound-off edge. Make two 1” pompons and sew one to each end of drawstring.
Hat
With larger straight needles, using A, cast on 47(49-51) sts. Work in ribbing same as for back of sweater for 10 rows, inc 1 st at end of last row – 48(50-52) sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 5 1/2(6-6 1/2)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Top: Next Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, k18(19-20), SSK, k1, join another ball of A and k1, k2 tog, k18(19-20), SSK, k1 – 22(23-24) sts on each side. Working both sides at once with separate balls of yarn, continue in this manner to dec 4 sts every RS row 7 times more, end on WS – 8(9-10) sts each side. Bind off all sts on both sides.
Ears (Make 4): With larger straight needles, using A, cast on 6 sts. Work even in St st for 6 rows, end on WS. Dec 1 st each side every RS row twice, end on WS – 2 sts. Bind off all sts. Sew 2 pieces tog for each ear.
Finishing
Sew bound-off edges of the 2 sides of hat tog. Pin one ear to each side of hat at either side of top seam. Sew sides of hat tog, sewing in cast-on edges of ears. Turn lower edge of hat up to RS for cuff.
