Back Bodice

Shape Armholes:  Bind off 4(5-6-7-8-9-10) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 68(76-84-92-100-108-116) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every RS row 4(8-9-11-12-14-15) times – 60(60-66-70-76-80-86) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 7(7½-8-8½- 9-9-9½)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders:  Bind off 4(4-5-5-6-6-7) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 3(3-4-5-6-7-8) sts at beg of the next 4 rows.  Bind off remaining 40 sts for back neck.

Lower Back

With RS facing, using straight needles, pick up and k76(86-96-106-116-126-136) sts along cast-on edge of back bodice.  Beg with a p row, work 4 rows in St st, end on WS.

Joining Row (RS):  Fold piece in half with WS tog.  * Insert point of RH needle through first st on LH needle, then under first st in row directly above picked-up sts, yo and pull loop through first st on LH needle.  Rep from * until all sts on LH needle have been worked – 76(86-96-106-116-126-136) sts.  Purl 1 row, dec 1 st at end – 75(85-95-105-115-125-135) sts.  K 1 row, end on RS.  Beg with a p row, keep 3(0-1-2-3-0-1) st(s) each side in St st, and work remaining sts in Pat St.  Inc 1 st each side every 1” 10 times, working incs in Pat St as sts become available – 95(105-115-125-135-145-155) sts.  Work even until piece measures 12(12-12-12½-12½-13-13½)” above Joining Row, end on WS.  K the next row, dec 10 sts across – 85(95-105-115-125-135-145) sts.  Work even in Garter St for 1”, end on WS.  Bind off.

Left Front Bodice

With straight needles, cast on 37(42-47-52-57-62-67) sts.  Work even in St st for 1”, end on WS.

Shape Armhole:  Bind off 4(5-6-7-8-9-10) sts, k to end – 33(37-41-45-49-53-57) sts.  Dec 1 st at armhole edge every RS row 4(8-9-11-12-14-15) times – 29(29-32-34-37-39-42) sts.  Work even until armhole measures 5½(6-6½-7-7½-7½-8)”, end on RS.

Shape Neck:  Bind off 9 sts, p to end – 20(20-23-25-28-30-33) sts.  Dec 1 st at neck edge EVERY row 10 times.  AT THE SAME TIME, when armhole measures 7(7½-8-8½-9-9-9½)”, bind off 4(4-5-5-6-6-7) sts at armhole edge once, then 3(3-4-5-6-7-8) sts twice for shoulder.

Left Frontband:  With RS facing, using straight needles, beg at neck edge, pick up and k32(35-37-40-42-42-45) sts along left front edge.  Work even in Garter St for ½”, end on WS.  Bind off.

Right Front Bodice

Work to correspond to left front bodice, reversing all shaping.  Bind off for armhole on WS row.  Bind off for neck on RS row.  Bind off for shoulder on WS rows.

Right Frontband:  With RS facing, using straight needles, beg at lower edge, pick up and k32(35-37-40-42-42-45) sts along right front edge.

Buttonhole Row (WS):  K3(5-4-4-5-5-6), yo, k2 tog, * k6(6-7-8-8-8-9), yo, k2 tog, rep from * twice more, k to end.  Complete same as left frontband.

Lower Front

Lap right frontband over left frontband and pin in place.  With RS facing, using straight needle, pick up and k76(86-96-106-116-126-136) sts across lower edge of front bodices, picking up sts along lower edge of right frontband and leaving left frontband free.  Work same as lower back until Joining row has been completed and all sts on LH needle have been worked – 76(86-96-106-116-126-136) sts.  Purl 1 row.

Inc Row (RS):  With circular needle, k5; k66(76-86-96-106-116-126), increasing 33 sts across, k to end – 109(119-129-139-149-159-169) sts.  Beg with a p row, keep 0(1-2-3-0-1-2) sts each side in St st and work remaining sts in Pat St until piece measures 12(12-12-12½-12½-13-13½)” above Joining Row, end on WS.  K the next row, dec 23 sts across – 86(96-106-116-126-136-146) sts.  Work even in Garter St for 1”, end on WS.  Bind off.

Left Sleeve

Left Side:  With straight needles, cast on 24(24-27-29-32-34-37) sts.  Work even in Garter St for 1”, end on RS.

Inc Row (WS):  K2, place marker, p to end, increasing 5 sts across – 29(29-32-34-37-39-42) sts.  Keeping 2 sts after marker in Garter St and remaining sts in St st, work even until piece measures 3½” from beg, end on WS.  Sl sts to holder.

Right Side:  With straight needles, cast on 24(24-27-29-32-34-37) sts.  Work even in Garter St for ½”, end on WS.

Buttonhole Row (RS):  K2, yo, k2 tog, k to end.  Work even until piece measures 1” from beg, end on RS.

Inc Row (WS):  P to last 2 sts, increasing 5 sts across, place marker, k2 – 29(29-32-34-37-39-42) sts.  Keeping 2 sts before marker in Garter St and remaining sts in St st,work even until piece measures 3½” from beg, end on WS.

Joining Row (RS):  K29(29-32-34-37-39-42) sts from holder, dropping marker, cast on 2 sts, k29(29-32-34-37-39-42) sts from LH needle, dropping marker – 60(60-66-70-76-80-86) sts.  Beg with a p row, work even in St st until sleeve measures 7” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Cap:  Bind off 4(5-6-7-8-9-10) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 52(50-54-56-60-62-66) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every 4th row 0(1-2-3-4-3-3) times, then every RS row 15(13-11-9-7-9-9) times, end on WS – 22(22-28-32-38-38-42)sts.  Bind off 7(5-5-5-5-5-5) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.  Bind off remaining 8(12-18-22-28-28-32) sts.

Right Sleeve

Work to correspond to right sleeve.  Work buttonhole on left side instead of right side.

Finishing

Sew shoulder seams.

Neckband:  With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at right front edge, pick up and k94 sts around entire neck edge.  Work even in Garter St for ½”, end on WS.  Bind off.  Sew lower edge of left frontband to WS of garment under lower edge of right frontband.  Sew on buttons.  Sew in sleeves.  Sew side and sleeve seams.  Sew buttons to lower edges of sleeves.
