Length – Approximately 32” from top of neckband to bottom of point.

Materials

Berroco Suede (50 grs),  8 balls #3719 Texas Rose.

24” Length circular knitting needle, size 11 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

2 St markers.

Gauge

14 sts = 4” in Pat St.

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

Pattern Stitch (Multiple of 4)

Row 1:  Knit.

Row 2:  P2, * yo, p4 tog, rep from * to last 2 sts, end p2.

Row 3: K2, * k1, (knit, purl, knit) all in yo, rep from * to last 2 sts, end k2. Rep these 3 rows for Pat St.

Poncho

Section 1:  With circular needle, cast on 76 sts.  Work even in Pat St until piece measures approximately 21” from beg.  Mark end of last row.  Work even until 48 repeats of Pat St (a total of 144 rows) have been completed.  Bind off all sts.

Section 2:  With circular needle, pick up and k76 sts along right edge of Section 1 from cast-on edge to marker.  Beg with Row 2, work even in Pat St until 48 repeats of Pat St have been completed.  Measure 21” up from bound-off edge along right edge as it faces you and place marker.

Finishing

Sew bound-off edge of Section 1 to side edge of Section 2 between bound-off edge and marker.

Edging:  With RS facing, using circular needle, pick up and k270 sts evenly spaced around entire lower edge of poncho.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.

Rnds 1 and 2:  Knit.

Rnd 3:  (Yo, k1) 3 times, * (k2 tog) 6 times, (yo, k1) 6 times, rep from * to last 3 sts, end (yo, k1) 3 times.

Rnd 4:  Purl.  Rep these 4 rnds 3 times more.  Bind off all sts loosely.

Neckband:  With RS facing, using circular needle, pick up and k70 sts evenly spaced around entire neck edge.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Beg with a purl row, work even in Garter St (purl 1 row, knit 1 row) for 2”.  Bind off all sts loosely.
