MB (Make Bobble)

With crochet hook, (yo, draw up a loop) 5 times, yo and draw through all loops on hook.
 

Pattern Stitch (Multiple of 4)

Row 1 and all WS rows:  Purl.

Row 2 (RS):  K1, * k2 tog, yo, k2, rep from * across, end last rep k1 instead of k2.

Row 4:  K4, * k2 tog, yo, k2, rep from * across.

Row 6:  K3, * k2 tog, yo, k2, rep from * across, end last rep k3 instead of k2.

Row 8:  K2, * k2 tog, yo, k2, rep from * across, end last rep k4 instead of k2.

Rep these 8 rows for Pat St.
 

Shawl

With straight needles, cast on 84 sts.  Work even in Pat St for 64”, end on WS.  Bind off.
 

Finishing

Edging:  With WS facing, using crochet hook, join yarn in corner of shawl with a sl st.  ** Work along side edge of shawl as follows:  * Ch 4, MB in 3rd ch from hook, sl st into 2nd then 1st ch’s from hook, skip 2 rows on shawl, sc in edge of shawl, (skip 1 row of shawl, sc in next row of shawl) 3 times, rep from * across.  Work along end of shawl as follows:  * Ch 4, MB in 3rd ch from hook, sl st into 2nd then 1st ch’s from hook, skip 1 st, sc 3 times in edge of shawl, rep from * across.  Rep from ** once more, join with a sl st in 1st ch of beg ch-4.  Fasten off.
