Body

With circular needle, cast on 151(169-187-205-223-241) sts.  Work even in Garter St for 4”.

Establish Pat St:  Row 1 (RS):  K16, place marker, work Row 1 of Pat St to last 16 sts, place marker, k to end.

Row 2:  K to first marker, work Row 2 of Pat St to last marker, k to end.  Work even in pat as established until piece measures 17” from beg, end on WS.  Make a note of the Pat St row you ended with.

Divide for Back and Fronts:  Right Front:  Next Row (RS):  With straight needle, k16, sl marker, work in Pat St over 21(25-27-31-35-40) sts.  Leave remaining 114(128-144-158-172-185) sts on circular needle for back and left front – 37(41-43-47-51-56) sts. Turn and work 1 row even. 

Shape Armhole:  K16, work to last 4 sts, p2 tog TBL, p2 – 36(40-42-46-50-55) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 2(5-6-7-8-9) times more – 34(35-36-39-42-46) sts.  Work even until armhole measures 2(2½-3-3-3½-4)”, end on WS.

Shape Neck:  Bind off 16 sts, drop marker, work to end – 18(19-20-23-26-30) sts.  Dec 1 st at neck edge every RS row 9(8-7-8-9-10) times – 9(11-13-15-17-20) sts.  When armhole measures 7(7½-8-8-8½-9)”, end on RS.

Shape Shoulder:  Bind off 3(3-5-5-5-6) sts at armhole edge once, then 3(4-4-5-6-7) sts twice.


Back

With RS facing, join yarn to sts on circular needle and, using straight needle, bind off 10(10-14-16-18-18) sts, then work in Pat St until there are 57(67-73-79-85-93) sts on straight needle.  Leave 47(51-57-63-69-74) sts on circular needle for left front.  Work 1 row even.

Dec Row (RS):  P2, p2 tog, work to last 4 sts, p2 tog TBL, p2 – 55(65-71-77-83-91) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 2(5-6-7-8-9) times more – 51(55-59-63-67-73) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 7(7½-8-8-8½-9)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders:  Bind off 3(3-5-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 3(4-4-5-6-7) sts at beg of the next 4 rows.  Bind off remaining 33 sts for back neck.


Left Front

With RS facing, join yarn to sts on circular needle.  Bind off 10(10-14-16-18-18) sts, work to end – 37(41-43-47-51-56) sts.  Work 1 row even.

Shape Armhole:  Dec Row (RS):  P2, p2 tog, work to end – 36(40-42-46-50-55) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 2(5-6-7-8-9) times more – 34(35-36-39-42-46) sts.  Work even until armhole measures 2(2½-3-3-3½-4)”, end on RS.

Shape Neck:  Bind off 16 sts, drop marker, work to end – 18(19-20-23-26-30) sts.  Dec 1 st at neck edge every RS row 9(8-7-8-9-10) times – 9(11-13-15-17-20) sts.  When armhole measures 7(7½-8-8-8½-9)”, end on WS.

Sleeves

With straight needles, cast on 35(35-41-41-47-47) sts.  Work even in Garter St for 4”.  Work even in Pat St until sleeve measures 5” from beg, end on WS.

Inc Row (RS):  P1, M1p, work to last st, M1p, p1 – 37(37-43-43-49-49) sts.  Rep this inc every 1¼(1¼-1¼-1¼-1¼-1)” 7(7-6-8-7-9) times more, working incs into Pat St as sts become available – 51(51-55-59-63-67) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 16” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Cap:  Bind off 5(5-7-8-9-9) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 41(41-41-43-45-49) sts.  Work 0(2-2-2-2-2) rows even, end on WS.

Dec Row (RS):  P2, p2 tog, work to last 4 sts, p2 tog TBL, p2 – 39(39-39-41-43-47) sts.  Rep this dec every 4th row 0(0-2-1-2-2) times more, then every RS row 13(12-8-10-8-8) times, end on WS – 13(15-19-19-23-27) sts.  Bind off 3(2-2-2-2-2) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.  Bind off remaining 7(11-15-15-19-23) sts.


Collar

With straight needles, cast on 47 sts.  Work Row 1 of Pat St.  Cast on 2 sts at beg of the next 28 rows, working cast-on sts into Pat St as sts become available, end on RS – 103 sts.  Knit 3 rows.

Bind-Off Row (WS): K1, * insert point of RH needle from back to front under horizontal strand between st just worked and next st, bind off this strand, k1, bind off k1, rep from * until all sts are bound off.


Finishing

Sew shoulder seams.  Sew cast-on edge of collar to neck edge so that RS of collar folds back to RS.  Sew in sleeves.  Sew side and sleeve seams.  Close front with pin if desired.
