2 Hanks Berroco Borealis (100 grs), #5082 Katla

16" Length circular knitting needle, size 11 (8.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

1 St marker

Tapestry needle

Gauge

12 sts = 4"; 20 rnds = 4" in Garter St

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

Hat

Cast on 60 sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work even in Garter St (knit 1 round, purl 1 round) for 9½.”.

Shape Top:  Next Rnd:  * K2 tog, rep from * across - 30 sts.  Break  off yarn leaving an 8" long end.  Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needle.  Pull up tightly and secure.

Finishing

Make a 4" diameter pompom and sew to top of hat.
