Left Front
With larger needles, cast on 51(55-59-65-67-73) sts. Work even in Garter St for 4”, end on WS.
Establish Frontband: K33(37-41-47-52-55), place marker, k18.
Establish Seeded Pat: Next Row (WS): K to marker, work Row 1 of Seeded Pat to end. Work even in pat as established for 8 rows more, end on WS.
Dec Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, work to end. Rep this dec every 2” 4 times more – 46(50-54-60-62-68) sts. Work even if necessary until piece measures 13½” from beg, end on WS. Keeping marker in place, work all sts in Garter St until piece measures 17½” from beg, end on RS. Keeping 18 sts at front edge in Garter St for frontband and remaining sts in Seeded Pat, work even until piece measures 20½” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole: Bind off 2(2-3-3-3-3) sts at beg of the next RS row, then 0(2-2-2-2-3) sts at beg of the next 3 RS rows, end on WS – 44(42-45-51-53-56) sts.

Shape Neck: Next Row (WS): K18 and sl these sts to st holder, drop marker and work to end – 20(21-23-26-27-31) sts. Bind off 4(3-3-4-2-4) sts at neck edge once, 2 sts once, then dec 1 st at neck edge every RS row 4 times. Work even until armhole measures 7½(7½-8-8½-8½-9)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Shoulder: Bind off 4(4-4-6-7-7) sts at armhole edge once, then 3(4-5-5-6-7) sts twice for shoulder. Mark placement of 5 buttons, the first 1” down from holder and the other four 3 ½” apart on frontband.
Right Front
Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping and placement of frontband. When piece reaches the first marker on left front, end on WS.
Buttonhole Row (RS): K8, bind off 2 sts, k to marker, work to end.
Following Row: Work in pat as established, cast on 2 sts over sts bound off on previous row. Complete to correspond to left front, making 4 more buttonholes opposite markers. Bind off for armhole on WS rows. Work armhole decs at end of RS rows as SSK, k1. When armhole measures 5½(5½-6-6½-6½-7), end on WS.
Shape Neck: K18 and sl these sts to holder, drop marker and work to end. Complete to correspond to left front. Bind off for neck on RS rows. Bind off for shoulder on WS rows.
Sleeves
With larger needles, cast on 47(51-55-61-65-69) sts. Work even in Garter St for 4”, end on RS. Work even in Seeded Pat for 7 rows, end on WS.
Inc Row (RS): K1, M1, work to last st, M1, k1 – 49(53-57-63-67-71) sts. Rep this inc every 1½” three times more – 55(59-63-69-73-77) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 11” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 2(2-3-3-3-4) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 47(51-53-59-63-65) sts.
Dec Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, work to last 3 sts, SSK, k1 – 45(49-51-57-61-63) sts. Rep this dec every RS row 12(14-13-13-15-14) times more, end on WS – 21(21-25-31-31-35) sts. Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 11(11-15-21-21-25) sts.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams.
Collar: With RS facing, sl 18 sts from right holder to smaller needle, place marker, join yarn then pick up and k82 sts around neck edge to left holder, place marker, then k18 sts from holder – 118 sts.
Row 1 (WS): K18, k2, * p2, k2, rep from * to marker, k to end.
Row 2: K18, p2, * k2, p2, rep from * to marker, k to end. Rep these 2 rows, making 1 more buttonhole when collar measures 1”, then final buttonhole when collar measures 3½”. Work even until collar measures 4½”, end on WS. Bind off. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons.
