3 Hanks Berroco Pure Pima (50 grs), #2236 Nectar

16” Length circular knitting needle, size 6 (4.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Crochet hook, size 5.50 mm (J-9)

1 St marker

One 3 1/2” wide x 36” long piece of woven fabric

22 sts = 4”; 26 rows = 4’ in st st

Bag

With circular needles, cast on 130 sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Purl 1 rnd, knit 1 rnd, purl 1 rnd.

Eyelet Rnd:  * Yo, k2 tog, rep from * around.  Purl 1 rnd.

Set-Up Rnd:  * P6, p2 tog, yo twice, p2 tog, k1 TBL, p1, k1 TBL, p2 tog, yo twice, p2 tog, p6, k1 TBL, p1, k1 TBL, rep from * around.

Next Rnd:  * P7, p first yo, p 2nd yo TBL, p1, (k1 TBL, p1) twice, p first yo, p 2nd yo TBL, p7, k1TBL, p1, k1 TBL, rep from * around.  From here, work even following chart.  Work 2 full repeats of chart (92 rnds), then work rnds 1 – 8.

Bind-off Rnd:  Bind off 7 sts, + * drop the next 2 sts from needle and let them unravel back to Rnd 1 (double yo rnd).  Using crochet hook, hold 4 strands of yarn tog (2 dropped sts plus the double yo) and work back up to bind-off rnd as if picking up a dropped st. (Pull 4 strands through st each time so you always have 4 strands on hook).  When st is worked all the way up, slip it onto RH needle and bind it off. *  Bind off 5 sts, then rep between *’s.  Bind off 17 sts, then rep between *’s.  Rep from + 4 times more.  Rep between *’s.  Bind off 5 sts, then rep between *’s.  Bind off remaining sts.

Finishing

Lay bag flat and sew bottom seam.

Strap:  Fold piece of fabric in half lengthwise, then in half again with raw edges on the inside.  Sew short ends tog.  Weave strap in and out of eyelet rnd at top of bag.Tie as in photo.
