5 Hanks Berroco Peruvia (100 grs), #7137 Granada (A), 4 hanks #7120 Maiz (B), 3 hanks #7107 Marron (C), 2 hanks #7122 Avocado (D) and 3 hanks #7125 Sea Turtle (E)

29” Length circular knitting needle, size 10 (6.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Straight knitting needles, size 10 (6.00 mm)


Gauge

18 sts = 4”;  23 rows = 4” in Pat St

Pattern Stitch (Multiple of 4 sts)

Rows 1 – 3:  With A, knit.

Row 4 (WS):  * With B, p1, with A, p3, rep from * across.

Row 5 (RS):  * With B, k1, with A, k1, rep from * across.

Row 6:  * With A, p2, with B, p1, with A, p1, rep from * across.

Row 7:  With A, knit.

Row 8:  With A, purl.  Change to C and D.

Row 9:  * Move D to front and k2 with C, move D to back an k2 with D, rep from * across.

Row 10:  * P2 with D, move D to back, p2 with C, move D to front, rep from * across.

Row 11:  * K2 with C, move C to front and k2 with D, move C to back, rep from * across.

Row 12:  * Move C to back and p2 with D, move C to front and p2 with C, rep from * across.

Rows 13 and 14:  Rep Rows 9 and 10.  Change to B and E.

Row 15:  With E, knit.

Row 16:  With E, purl.

Rows 17 and 18:  With B, purl.

Rows 19 and 20:  With E, knit.  Change to A.

Row 21:  With A, knit.

Row 22:  With A, purl.  Change to B, C and D held tog.

Note:  Rows 23 and 24 will look like a sideways braid with the colors forming alternating diagonal lines.

Row 23:  P1 with B, C and D held tog.  Hold all yarns in front.  * P1 with C, p1 with B, p1 with D, rep from * to last st, p last st with all 3 yarns held tog.

Row 24:  K1 with B, C and D held tog.  Hold all yarns in back.  * K1 with C, k1 with B, k1 with D, rep from * to last st, k last st with all 3 yarns held tog.

Rows 25 and 27:  With A, knit.

Row 26:  With A, purl.

Rows 28, 30 and 32:  * With A, p1, with B, k1, rep from * across.

Rows 29, 31 and 33:  * With A, k1, with B, p1, rep from * across.  Fasten off B.

Rows 34 and 36:  With A, purl.

Row 35:  With A, knit.  After Row 36, change to C and D.

Row 37:  * With D, k2, with C, p2, rep from * across.

Row 38:  * With C, k2, with D, p2, rep from * across.

Row 39:  * With C, p2, with D, k2, rep from * across.

Row 40:  * With D, p2, with C, k2, rep from * across.  Change to E.

Rows 41 and 42:  With E, knit.  Join B.

Row 43:  With B, knit.

Row 44:  With B, purl.

Note:  When working Rows 45 and 48 you will not be knitting with E.  This color will just be moved from front to back to weave it across sts worked with B.

Row 45:  * With B, k2, move E to front and k2 with B, move E to back, rep from * across.

Row 46:  * With B, k1, p1, rep from * across.

Row 47:  * With B, p1, k1, rep from * across.

Row 48:  * Move E to front and p2 with B, move E to back and p2 with B, rep from * across.

Rows 49 and 50:  Rep Rows 43 and 44.

Rows 51 and 52:  With E, knit.

Rep these 52 rows for Pat St.


Body

With circular needle, using A, cast on 272 sts.  DO NOT join.  Work back and forth in Pat St for 16”, end on WS.

Divide for Armholes:  Next Row (RS):  Work 95(90) sts, join another hank of color(s) being used, work 82(92) sts, join another hank of color(s) being used, work to end.  Continue to work even in Pat St, using separate hank(s) of yarn for each section until piece measures 24(25)” from beg, end on WS.

Joining Row (RS):  Work all the way across with first hank(s), dropping other hanks so that all sts are now worked with same hank(s) of yarn – 272 sts.  Continue to work even in Pat St until piece measures 40(41)” from beg, end on WS.  Bind off.


Sleeves

With straight needles, using A, cast on 40(44) sts.  Work even in Pat St for 2”, end on WS.  Inc 1 st each side on next row, then every 1(3/4)” 15(18) times more, working incs into Pat St as sts become available – 72(82) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS.  Bind off.


Finishing

Sew sleeve seams.  Sew sleeves into armholes.
