Materials

1 Ball Berroco Sox (100 grs), #1431 Venachar

1 Set (4) double pointed knitting needles, size 2 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

2 St markers

Tapestry needle

30 sts = 4”;  40 rows = 4” in St st

Glove (Make 2)

With dpn’s, cast on 60 sts.  Divide sts evenly onto 3 sts (20 sts per needle) and join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work even in k2, p2 ribbing for 2”.  Work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) until piece measures 4” from beg.

Thumb Gusset:  Next Rnd:  K1, place marker, m1k, k2, M1k, place marker, k to end – 62 sts.  Knit 3 rnds. Continue to inc 1 st after 1st marker and before 2nd marker every 4th rnd 8 times more – 78 sts (20 sts between markers).

Hand:  Next Rnd:  K1, drop 1st marker, sl next 20 sts onto a piece of waste yarn for thumb, drop 2nd marker, cast on 2 sts, k to end – 60 sts.  Work even in St st until piece measures desired length and reaches the base of your fingers.

Index Finger:  Next Rnd:  K9, sl the next 44 sts onto waste yarn, with 2nd dpn, cast on 3 sts, k8 – 20 sts.  Divide sts onto 3 needles keeping marker at beg of rnd.  Work even in St st until finger measures 1/2” less than desired length.

Dec Rnd:  * K2 tog, rep from * around – 10 sts.  Knit 1 rnd.  Rep Dec Rnd once more – 5 sts.  Break off yarn leaving an 8” long end.  Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needles.  Pull up tightly and secure.

Middle Finger:  Join yarn and, with 1st dpn, k6 sts from waste yarn, with 2nd dpn, k2 tog from waste yarn, cast on 3 sts, sl the last 8 sts from waste yarn onto 3rd dpn and work them as k2 tog, k6, then pick up and k3 sts in cast-on sts of Index Finger – 20 sts.  Rearrange sts more evenly on 3 needles and complete same as Index Finger.

Ring Finger:  Join yarn and, with 1st dpn, k5 from waste yarn, with 2nd dpn, k2 tog from waste yarn, cast on 3 sts, sl the last 7 sts from waste yarn onto 3rd dpn and work them as k2 tog, k5, then pick up and k3 sts in cast-on sts of Middle Finger – 18 sts.  Rearrange sts more evenly on 3 needles and complete same as Index Finger.

Little Finger:  Join yarn, and with 1st dpn, k6 from waste yarn, with 2nd dpn, k2 tog from waste yarn, k6, pick up and k3 sts in cast-on sts of Ring Finger – 16 sts.  Rearrange sts more evenly on 3 needles and complete same as Index Finger.

Thumb:  Sl 20 sts from waste yarn back onto 3 dpn’s and divide sts onto 3 needles.  Join yarn and k20, pick up and k1 st before cast-on sts, 2 sts across cast-on sts and 1 st after cast-on sts – 24 sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work even in St st until thumb measures 1/2” less than desired length.

Dec Rnd:  * K2 tog, rep from * around –12 sts.  Knit 1 rnd.  Rep Dec Rnd once more – 6 sts.  Break off yarn leaving an 8” long end.  Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needles.  Pull up tightly and secure.
