This garment is made in 2 sections, each worked from cuff to center back and front, then sewn together down center back.

Left Side

Left Sleeve:  With circular needle, using MC, cast on 36 sts.  Work even in St st for 1”, end on WS.  Inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 2¼(1¾-1¼-1¼-1-1)” 7(9-11-13-14-16) times more – 52(56-60-64-66-70) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS. 

Left Body:  Cast on 42(42-44-44-46-46) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 136(140-148-152-158-162) sts.  Work even until piece measures 3¾(4¾-5¾-6¾-7¾-8¾)” from last group of cast-on sts, end on WS.

Left Back:  Next Row (RS):  K68(70-74-76-79-81), then sl remaining 68(70-74-76-79-81) sts onto a piece of scrap yarn for left front.  Work even until piece measures 8(9-10-11-12-13)” from sts cast-on for body, end on WS.  Bind off.

Left Front:  With RS facing, sl 68(70-74-76-79-81) sts from scrap yarn onto circular needle.  Join MC and bind off 5 sts, then k to end – 63(65-69-71-74-76) sts.  Purl 1 row.  Dec 1 st at beg of the next RS row, then at same edge EVERY row 4 times more – 58(60-64-66-69-71) sts.  Work even until piece measures 6¾(7¾-8¾-9¾-10¾-11¾)” from sts cast-on for body, end on WS.  Bind off.

Right Side

Work same as left side until sleeve is completed, sts have been cast-on for body, and piece measures 3¾(4¾-5¾-6¾-7¾-8¾)” from sts cast-on for body, end on WS.

Right Front:  K68(70-74-76-79-81), then sl remaining 68(70-74-76-79-81) sts onto a piece of scrap yarn for back.  Turn.  Bind off 5 sts, then p to end – 63(65-69-71-74-76) sts.  Dec 1 st at end of the next RS row, then at same edge EVERY row 4 times more – 58(60-64-66-69-71) sts.  Work even until piece measures 6½(7½-8½-9½-10½-11½)” from sts cast on for body, end on WS.  Bind off.

Right Back:  With RS facing, sl 68(70-74-76-79-81) sts from scrap yarn to circular needle.  Join MC and work even until piece measures 8(9-10-11-12-13)” from sts cast on for body, end on WS.  Bind off.

Finishing

Sew bound-off edge of right back and bound-off edge of left back together.  Sew side and sleeve seams.

Left Frontband:  With RS facing, using smaller needles and CC, beg at left front neck edge, pick up and k82(84-90-92-98-100) sts along left front edge.  Work even in Garter St for 1¼", end on WS.  Bind off.

Right Frontband:  Beg at lower left front edge, work to correspond to left frontband until band measures ½", end on WS.

Buttonhole Row (RS):  K5(6-7-5-6-4), yo, k2 tog, * k12(12-13-14-15-16), yo, k2 tog, rep from * 4 times more, k to end.  Complete same as left frontband.

Collar:  With RS facing, using smaller needles and CC, beg at outer edge of right frontband, pick up and k92 sts around entire neck to outer edge of left frontband.  Work even in Garter St for 2”, end on WS.

Buttonhole Row (RS):  K3, yo, k2 tog, k to end.  Work even until collar measures 6”, end on WS.  Bind off.  Sew on 7 buttons opposite buttonholes (six on left frontband and 1 in collar).  Sew 8th button to right front edge of collar, 2” down from bound-off edge and on the WS of collar so it shows when collar folds back.
