2 Hanks BERROCO CAPTIVA METALLIC (50 grs), #7517 Pear

16” Length circular knitting needle, size 8 (5.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

1 Set (4) double pointed knitting needles (dpn), size 8 (5.00 mm)

Gauge

18 sts = 4”; 25 rnds = 4” in St st

Dress

With circular needle, cast on 156 sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) for 3”.

Pleating Rnd:  * Sl 4 sts to first dpn, then sl 4 sts to second dpn; fold second dpn back to the left so that WS of work is facing you and needle is parallel to sts on circular needle; fold first dpn to the right so that RS of work is facing you and all 3 needles (2 dpn’s and main needle) are parallel; [insert RH point of circular needle through first st on all 3 parallel needles and k these 3 sts tog] 4 times; rep from * until all sts have been pleated – 52 sts.  Divide sts onto 3 dpn’s. 

Ribbing:  Next Rnd:  * K2, p2, rep from * around.  Rep this rnd 5 times more.  Work even in St st until piece measures 1¾” above last rnd of ribbing.

Divide for Back and Front:  Next Rnd:  K to the last 3 sts, bind off 6 sts, dropping marker, k until there are 20 sts on RH needle then sl these 20 sts to holder for front; bind off 6 sts, k to end – 20 sts.

Back:  Turn.  Beg with a p row, work back and forth in St st for 7 rows, end on WS.

Shape Neck:  Next Row (RS):  K5, join another hank of yarn and bind off center 10 sts, k to end.  Working both sides at once, work even for 3 rows, end on WS.  Bind off.

Front:  With WS facing, join yarn and, using 1 dpn, p20 sts from holder.  Work even in St st for 6 rows, end on WS.  Complete same as neck on back.

Finishing

Sew shoulder seams.
