Kerchief
Thread end of CC into tapestry needle, then thread all beads onto yarn.
With circular needle, using CC, cast on 123 sts.
Row 1 (WS): K1, * slip bead into place, k4, * rep between *’s 14 times more, sl bead into place, k1, mark st just worked with pin, sl bead into place, k4, rep between *’s 14 times more, sl bead into place, k1 – 32 beads have been placed. Change to MC and turn.
Row 2 (RS): K to 1 st before marked st, work center dec, k to end – 121 sts. DO NOT turn. Sl sts to beg of needle to be worked from RS again.
Row 3 (RS): With CC, knit, moving pin marker up to center st. Turn.
Row 4 (WS): With MC, rep Row 2 – 119 sts. DO NOT turn. Sl sts to beg of needle to be worked from WS again.
Row 5 (WS): With CC, rep Row 3. Turn.
Row 6 (RS): With MC, rep Row 2 – 117 sts. DO NOT turn. Sl sts to beg of needle to be worked from RS again.

Dec Row 1 (RS): K2, SSK, k to 1 st before marked st, work center dec, k to last 4 sts, end k2 tog, k2 – 101 sts. Purl 1 row. Rep these 2 rows twice more, end on WS – 93 sts.
Dec Row 2 (RS): K2, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k to 1 st before marked st, work center dec, k to last 5 sts, end k3 tog, k2 – 87 sts. Purl 1 row. Rep these 2 rows 14 times more, end on WS – 3 sts. K3 tog. Fasten off.
Finishing
Band and Ties: With circular needle, using MC, cast on 140 sts. Knit 5 rows. Bind off loosely knitwise. Sew cast-on edge of band to side edges of kerchief, leaving 4” free at each side for ties.
Optional: With circular needle, using MC, cast on 20 sts, using long-tail method (make sure you have a really long tail to work with); with RS facing, * pick up 1 st in side edge of kerchief with working strand, then pick up 1 st with long tail, rep from * until you have picked up 100 sts along side edge of kerchief; cast on 20 sts more – 140 sts. Knit 5 rows, end on WS. Bind off loosely knitwise.
