29” Length circular knitting needle, size 11 (8.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Crochet hook, size 8.00 mm (L-11)
Two 1½” long horn buttons
2 Safety pins for markers

Fisherman’s Rib (Odd number of sts)
Row 1 (WS – Set up row): K1, p to last st, end k1.
Row 2 (RS): K1, * k1 in row below, p1, rep from * to last 2 sts, end k1 in row below, k1.
Row 3: K1, * p1, k1 in row below, rep from * to last 2 sts, end p1, k1.
Rep Rows 2 and 3 for Fisherman’s Rib.
Shawl
With circular needle, cast on 117 sts. DO NOT join. Work even in Fisherman’s Rib for 22”, end on WS. Bind off knitwise.
Finishing
Lay piece flat with RS facing you, cast-on edge at the bottom and bound-off edge at the top. Measure in 5” from left side edge and down 6” from bound-off edge and place safety pin. Measure in 5” from pin and down 6” from bound-off edge and place second pin.
Buttonloops (Make 2): Using crochet hook, join yarn at pin marker with a sl st. Make a chain 2” long, then join with a sl st right next to beg of ch. Fasten off. Measure in the same way on right side edge and place pin markers. Sew one button to each pin marker. To wear, fold bound-off edge down as in photo.
