Kfbf

Knit in front, back, then front of next st – inc 2 sts

Pfbf

Purl in front, knit in back, purl in front of next st – inc 2 sts

 

Cowl

With circular needle, cast on 116 sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.

Rnd 1:  Knit.

Rnd 2:  Purl.

Rnd 3:  * Kfbf, rep from * around – 348 sts.

Rnd 4:  Knit.  Rep Rnd 4 until piece measures 2¾" from beg.

Dec Rnd:  * K3 tog, rep from * around – 116 sts.

Next Rnd:  Knit.

Following Rnd:  Purl.

Inc Rnd:  * Pfbf, rep from * around – 348 sts.

Next Rnd:  Purl.  Rep the last rnd until piece measures 5” from beg.

Dec Rnd:  * P3 tog, rep from * around – 116 sts.

Next Rnd:  Purl.

Following Rnd:  Knit.

Inc Rnd:  Rep Rnd 3 – 348 sts.

Next Rnd:  Knit.  Rep the last rnd until piece measures 7½” from beg.
