Decorative Welts are added at specific intervals. You can add them when you feel like it for an original cover or follow our directions.
Cover
With straight needles, cast on 65 sts (or the width of your device plus ½” x 7.5 – round up to the nearest even number). Knit 1 row on WS, purl 2 rows. Work even in Seed St until piece measures 3”, end on WS. Work Welt. Work even in Seed St for 4 rows. Work Welt. Work even in Seed St for 3½”, end on WS. Work Welt. Work even in Seed St for 1½”, end on WS. Work Welt. Work even in Seed St until piece measures 22½” from beg (or the height of your device x 2 plus 2½”), end on WS.
Buttonhole Row (RS): Mark center 3 sts. Working in Seed St, work 8 sts, bind off 3 sts, work to marker, bind off 3 sts, work to last 11 sts, bind off 3 sts, work to end. Note: If your device is narrower than 7”, you may want to omit the center buttonhole.
Next Row: Work in Seed St, cast on 3 sts over each group of sts bound off on previous row. Work 4 rows even in Seed St. Knit 2 rows, purl 1 row. Bind off knitwise on WS.
Finishing
Place your device in the cover, folding flap to the front and placing markers for buttons under buttonholes. Pin side edges together. Remove device and sew side seams. Sew on buttons.
