Pattern Stitch (Odd number of sts)

Row 1 (RS):  K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.

Row 2:  Purl.

Rep these 2 rows for Pat St


Back

Cast on 55(61-67-73-79-85) sts.  Work even in Pat St for 3(3-3½-3½-4-4)”, end on WS.  Dec 1 st each end of next row, then every 4½” twice more – 49(55-61-67-73-79) sts.  Work even until piece measures 13(13-13½-13½-14-14)” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes:  Bind off 3(4-5-5-6-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the following 2 rows – 39(43-47-53-57-63) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every RS row 3(3-4-5-6-7) times – 33(37-39-43-45-49) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 5½(5½-6-6½-7-7½)”, end on WS.  Bind off.


Fronts/Back Yoke

Left Front:  Cast on 39(45-51-57-63-69) sts.  Work even in Pat St for 3(3-3½-3½-4-4)”, end on WS.  Dec 1 st at beg of the next RS row, then at same edge every 4½” twice more – 36(42-48-54-60-66) sts.  Work even until piece measures 13(13-13½-13½-14-14)” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armhole:  Bind off 3(4-5-5-6-6) sts at beg of the next RS row, then 2 sts at beg of the following RS row – 31(36-41-47-52-58) sts.  Dec 1 st at armhole edge every RS row 3(3-4-5-6-7) times – 28(33-37-42-46-51) sts.  Work even until armhole measures 5½(5½-6-6½-7-7½)”, end on WS.  Inc 1 st at armhole edge every RS row twice, then EVERY row 4 times – 34(39-43-48-52-57) sts.  Mark end of last row for beg of back yoke.

Back Yoke:  Work even until piece measures 11(12-13-14-15-16)” above marker, end on WS.  Mark end of last row for end of back yoke.

Right Front:  Shape Armhole:  Dec 1 st at beg of the next RS row, at same edge EVERY row 3 times more, then every RS row twice – 28(33-37-42-46-51) sts.  Work even until armhole measures 5” from last marker, end on WS.  Inc 1 st at beg of the next RS row, then at same edge every RS row 2(2-3-4-5-6) times more, end on WS – 31(36-41-47-52-58) sts.  Cast on 2 sts at beg of the next RS row, then 3(4-5-5-6-6) sts at beg of the following RS row – 36(42-48-54-60-66) sts.  Work even for 1”, end on WS.  Inc 1 st at beg of the next RS row, then at same edge every 4½” twice more – 39(45-51-57-63-69) sts.  Work even until piece measures 13(13-13½-13½-14-14)” above last cast-on row of armhole, end on WS.  Bind off.


Sleeves

Cast on 25(25-27-27-31-31) sts.  Work even in Pat St for 1”, end on WS.  Inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 3½(2½-2¼-2-2-1¾)” 5(6-7-8-8-9) times more – 37(39-43-45-49-51) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Cap:  Bind off 3(4-5-5-6-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the following 2 rows – 27(27-29-31-33-35) sts.  Work 0(0-2-2-2-2) rows, end on WS.  Dec 1 st each end of next row, every 4th row 0(0-0-0-1-1) time more, then every RS row 8(8-7-7-5-5) times, end on WS.  Work even if necessary until cap measures 4½”, end on WS.  Bind off remaining 9(9-13-15-19-21) sts.


Finishing

Sew bound-off edge of back to side edge of back yoke between markers.  Note:  This seam is not the shoulder seam – it will fall approximately 2” down from shoulder towards back. Sew in sleeves.  Sew side and sleeve seams.
