Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 1½" from beg, end on RS. P the next row, dec 7(9-11-13-15-15) sts as evenly spaced across as possible - 48(54-60-66-72-80) sts. Work in St st until piece measures 3(3-3½-3½-4-4)" from beg, end on WS.
Inc Row (RS): K1, M1k, k to last st, M1k, k1 - 50(56-62-68-74-82) sts. Rep this inc every 3" once more - 52(58-64-70-76-84) sts. Work even until piece measures 7(7-7½-7½-8-8)" from beg, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders: Bind off 5(6-7-7-8-9) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 5(5-6-7-8-9) sts at beg of the following 2 rows. Bind off remaining 20 sts for back neck.
Left Front
Note: The lower section of each front is worked in 2 pieces, then joined and worked as one piece.
Section 1: Cast on 13(15-17-19-21-23) sts. Work even in ribbing same as back for 1½", end on RS. Sl sts to holder.
Section 2: Cast on 17(19-21-23-25-27) sts. Work even in ribbing same as back for 1½", end on RS.
Joining/Dec Row (WS): (P1, k1) twice, place marker, p remaining sts of Section 2, decreasing 2(3-3-4-4-5) sts as evenly spaced across as possible; sl 13(15-17-19-21-23) sts of Section 1 from holder to the other needle and p these sts, decreasing 2(2-3-3-3-3) sts as evenly spaced across as possible - 26(29-32-35-39-42) sts. Keeping 4 sts at front edge in ribbing as established and remaining sts in St st, work even until piece measures 3(3-3½-3½-4-4)" from beg, end on WS.

Shape Neck: Next Row (WS): Bind off 4 sts, drop marker, then p to end.
Dec Row (RS): Continuing to work armhole decs if necessary, work to last 4 sts, k2 tog, k2. Rep this dec every RS row 7(7-7-7-8-7) times more. When all decs have been completed, work even if necessary on 10(11-13-14-16-18) sts until armhole measures 7½(7½-8-8½-9-9½)", end on WS. Shape shoulder same as back. Mark placement of 7 buttons along frontband, the first 1" up from lower edge, the last 1" below beg of neck shaping and the other 5 evenly spaced between (the 8th button will be in the neckband).
Right Front
Section 1: Cast on 17(19-21-23-25-27) sts. Work in ribbing same as back for 1", end on WS.
Buttonhole Row (RS): K1, p1, yo, k2 tog, work to end. Work even until piece measures 1½" from beg, end on RS. Sl sts to holder.
Section 2: Cast on 13(15-17-19-21-23) sts. Work in ribbing same as back for 1½", end on RS.
Joining/Dec Row (WS): P 13(15-17-19-21-23) sts of Section 2, decreasing 2(3-3-4-4-5) sts as evenly spaced across as possible, sl 17(19-21-23-25-27) sts of Section 1 from holder to the other needle and p to the last 4 sts, decreasing 2(2-3-3--3-3) sts as evenly spaced across as possible, place marker, work in ribbing as established to end - 26(29-32-35-39-42) sts. Complete to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping and making 6 more buttonholes opposite markers on left frontband. Work side incs at end of RS rows as M1k, k1. Sleeves
Cast on 45 sts. Work in ribbing same as back for 1", end on RS. P the next row, dec 9 sts as evenly spaced across as possible - 36 sts. Work even in St st until sleeve measures 3" from beg, end on WS.
Inc Row (RS): K1, M1k, k to last st, M1k, k1 - 38 sts. Rep this inc every 5(2½-1¼-1-¾-½)" 1(2-4-5-7-9) times more - 40(42-46-48-52-56) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 10" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 3(4-4-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows - 34(34-38-38-42-44) sts.
Dec Row (RS): K2, k2 tog, k to last 4 sts, SSK, k2 - 32(32-36-36-40-42) sts. Rep this dec every RS row 9(9-9-10-10-12) times more, end on WS - 14(14-18-16-20-18) sts. Bind off 3(3-3-2-3-2) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 8(8-12-12-14-14) sts.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, beg at right front edge, pick up and k83 sts around entire neck edge. Beg with Row 2 work in ribbing same as back for 1 row, end on WS. Make last buttonhole on next row, then work even for 1 more row, end on WS. Bind off in ribbing. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons.
