Twosome is a beret and scarf knit in Softwist and Mirror FX using an easy yarn over, drop stitch technique.
One size
SIZE Hat: Circumference – 20”Height – 7 1/2” Scarf: Width – 6” Length – 56” MATERIALS4 Hanks BERROCO SOFTWIST (50 grs), #9428 Mushroom for Scarf, 2 hanks for Hat3 Balls BERROCO MIRROR FX (10 grs), #9001 Gold/White for Scarf, 1 ball for Hat Straight knitting needles, size 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE 29” Length circular knitting needle, size 8 for Scarf Tapestry needle for Hat GAUGE20 sts = 4”; 28 rows = 4” in Pat St on size 8 needles TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE NOTEWhen Mirror FX is not in use, it may be carried loosely up side of work. Make sure to twist yarns at beg of every RS row to prevent long loops. PATTERN STITCHRows 1 and 2: With Softwist and Mirror FX held tog, knit. Rows 3 and 4: With Softwist, knit. Row 5: With Softwist, K1, * yo, k1, rep from * across. Row 6: With Softwist, knit, dropping all yo’s. Rows 7 and 8: With Softwist, knit. Rep these 8 rows for Pat St. SCARFWith circular needle, using Softwist, cast on 261 sts. Work even in Pat St for 4”, end on WS. Bind off. HATWith straight needles, using Softwist, cast on 100 sts. Work even in k1, p1 ribbing for 3/4”, end on WS. Join Mirror FX and work even in Pat St until piece measures 6” from beg, end on WS. Change to St st and continue to add Mirror FX every 3rd row. Shape Top: Dec Row (RS): K1, * k2 tog, k9, rep from * across – 91 sts. Purl 1 row. Dec Row 2 (RS): K1, * k3 tog, k7, rep from * across – 73 sts. Purl 1 row. Dec Row 3 (RS): K1, * k3 tog, k5, rep from * across – 55 sts. Purl 1 row. Dec Row 4 (RS): K1, * k3 tog, k3, rep from * across – 37 sts. Purl 1 row. Dec Row 5 (RS): K1, * k3 tog, k1, rep from * across – 19 sts. Purl 1 row. Dec Row 6 (RS): K1, * k2 tog, rep from * across – 10 sts. Break off yarn leaving an end for sewing. Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needle. Pull up tightly and secure, then sew back seam.
