MATERIALS

8(9-10-12-13-14) Hanks BERROCO TRILOGY (50 grs), #7610 Orkney Mix

Straight knitting needles, sizes 7 and 9 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

GAUGE

17 sts = 4”;  22 rows = 4” in St st on size 9 needles

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

BACK

With smaller needles, cast on 91(101-109-117-125-135) sts.

Ribbing:  Row 1 (RS):  K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.

Row 2:  P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 1” from beg, end on RS.  Change to larger needles and p the next row, dec 23 sts evenly spaced across – 68(78-86-94-102-112) sts.  Work even in St st until piece measures 13 1/2” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes:  Bind off 3(4-6-7-8-10) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 62(70-74-80-86-92) sts.

Dec Row (RS):  K1, k2 tog, k to last 3 sts , SSK, k1 – 60(68-72-78-84-90) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 4(8-8-9-10-11) times more – 52(52-56-60-64-68) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 7(7 1/2-8-8 1/2-8 1/2-9)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders:  Bind off 5(5-5-5-7-7) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 4(4-5-6-6-7) sts at beg of the next 4 rows, end on WS.  Bind off remaining 26 sts for back neck.

LEFT FRONT

Work same as back until piece measures 1” from beg and 23 sts have been dec’d on last row, end on WS – 68(78-86-94-102-112) sts.

Shape Front Neck:  For sizes Large, 1X and 2X ONLY:  Dec Row 1 (RS):  K to last 4 sts, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k1 – 92(100-110) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 1(5-9) times more, end on WS – 90(90-92) sts.

For ALL sizes:  Dec Row 2 (RS):  K to last 3 sts, SSK, k1 – 67(77-85-89-89-91) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 39(48-55-55-51-48) times more, then every other RS row 7(3-0-0-0-0) times.  AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 13 1/2”, before all neck decs have been completed, end on WS.  Shape armhole same as for back.  When all neck decs and armhole shaping have been completed, work even on 13(13-15-17-19-21) sts until armhole measures 7(7 1/2-8-8 1/2-8 1/2-9)”, end on WS.  Bind off 5(5-5-5-7-7) sts at armhole edge once, then 4(4-5-6-6-7) sts twice for shoulder.

RIGHT FRONT

Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.  Work front neck decs at beg of RS rows as k1, SSK.  Bind off for armhole and shoulder on WS rows.  Work armhole decs at end of RS rows as SSK, k1.

FINISHING

Sew shoulder and side seams.
