FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Top:  Chest – 22(24-26-28)”.

Length – 13 1/2(15-16 1/2-18)”.

Note:  This garment is designed to have a slightly oversized fit.  Please take this into consideration when selecting your size.

Skirt:  Waist – 20(21-22 1/2-24)”.

Length – 10(12-14-16)”.

 

MATERIALS

BERROCO LULLABY (50 grs), 4(4-5-6) balls #4201 White Magic (MC) for Top, 3(3-4-5) balls #4207 Quince (A) and 2(2-3-3) balls #4204 Love Potion (B) for Skirt.

Straight knitting needles, size 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

24” Length circular knitting needle, size 8 for Top, 29” and 16” length circular knitting needles, size 8 for Skirt.

Crochet hooks, size 5.50 mm (I) for Top, size 5.00 mm (H) for Skirt.

4 St holders.

1 St marker.

 

GAUGE

18 sts = 4”;  26 rows = 4” in St st on size 8 needles.

TOP

 

BACK

With straight needles, using MC, cast on 66(70-74-78) sts.  Work in St st for 2 rows, end on WS, dec 15 sts evenly spaced across last row – 51(55-59-63) sts.

Row 1 (RS):  K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.

Row 2:  P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 1 1/2” from beg, end on WS.  Work even in St st until piece measures 6(7-8-9)” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Raglan Armholes:  Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 45(49-53-57) sts.

Dec Row (RS):  K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1 – 43(47-51-55) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 7(7-8-8) times more, then every other RS row 0(1-1-2) times, end on WS – 29(31-33-35) sts.  Sl sts onto holder for neckband.

 

FRONT

Work same as for back.

 

SLEEVES

With straight needles, using MC, cast on 54(58-62-68) sts.  Work even in St st for 1”, end on WS, dec 4(4-6-8) sts evenly spaced across last row – 50(54-56-60) sts.  Continue to work in St st until sleeve measures 2” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Raglan Cap:  Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 44(48-50-54) sts.

Dec Row (RS):  K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1 – 42(46-48-52) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 7(9-10-12) times more, end on WS – 28 sts.  Sl sts onto holder for neckband.

 

FINISHING

Steam pieces with hot steam iron and a pressing cloth.  Sew raglan caps to raglan armholes.

Neckband:  With RS facing, using circular needle and MC, beg at left back shoulder seam, k28 sts from left sleeve holder, 29(31-33-35) sts from front holder, 28 sts from right sleeve holder, then 29(31-33-35) sts from back holder – 114(118-122-126) sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 2”.  Bind off all sts in ribbing.

Neck Drawstring:  With crochet hook, using 2 strands of MC held tog, make a chain 30(31-32-33)” long.  Fasten off.  Beg and end at center front as in photo, weave drawstring in and out through center of neckband 1” in from outer edge.  Make two 1 1/4” pompons and sew one to each end of drawstring.  Adjust neck by tightening drawstring, then tie as in photo.

Sleeve Drawstrings (Make 2):  With crochet hook, using 2 strands of MC held tog, make a chain 20(21-22-23)” long.  Fasten off.  Beg and end at center of sleeve, weave drawstring in and out 1” up from cast-on edge.  Make four 1 1/4” pompons and sew one to each end of each drawstring.  Adjust sleeves by tightening drawstrings, then tie as in photo.

 

SKIRT

With longer circular needle, using A, cast on 176(180-186-194) sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 3/4”, then work in St st (k EVERY rnd) until piece measures 1 1/2(1 1/2-2-2)” from beg.  Note:  When there are too few sts to fit comfortably on longer circular needle, change to shorter circular needle.

Dec Rnd:  Knit, dec 17 sts evenly spaced around – 159(163-169-177) sts.  Rep this dec rnd every 1(1 1/4-1 1/2-1 3/4)” 3 times more – 108(112-118-126) sts.  Work even until piece measures 5(6-7-8)” from beg.  Change to B and work even for  1/2”.

Dec Rnd:  Knit, dec 18 sts evenly spaced around – 90(94-100-108) sts.  Work even until piece measures 8 3/4(10 3/4-12 3/4-14 3/4)” from beg.  Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 3 rows.

Eyelet Rnd:  [Work 3 sts, k2 tog, yo] 6(10-16-18) times, then [work 2(2-2-4) sts, k2 tog, yo] 15(11-5-3) times – 21 eyelets.  Work even in k1, p1 ribbing for 4 more rows.  Bind off all sts loosely in ribbing.

Drawstring:  With crochet hook, using 1 strand each of A and B held tog, make a chain the length of the waist plus 20” for ties.  Beg and end at same eyelet, weave drawstring in and out of eyelet rnd at waist.  Make two 1 1/4” diameter pompons using A and B together and sew one pompon to each end of drawstring.

Flower:  With crochet hook, using A, ch 3 and join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1:  Ch 3, work 8 dc’s in ring, join with a sl st in ch-3.  Fasten off. 

Rnd 2:  With crochet hook, using B, sc in ring between 2 dc’s of Rnd 1, ch 3, * skip 2 dc’s, sc in ring between next 2 dc’s of Rnd 1, rep from * twice more, ch 3, skip 2 dc’s, join with a sl st in 1st sc – 4 ch-3 spaces.

Rnd 3:  Ch 1, * work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc and 1 sc in next ch-3 space, rep from * 3 times more, join with a sl st in ch-1 – 4 petals made.  Fasten off.

Rnd 4:  With crochet hook, using A, sc in center of ch-3 space of Rnd 2 behind petal, * ch 4, sc in center of next ch-3 space of Rnd 2 behind petal, rep from * twice more, ch 4, join with a sl st in 1st sc – 4 ch-4 spaces.

Rnd 5:  Ch 1, * work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc and 1 sc in next ch-4 space, rep from * 3 times more, join with a sl st in ch-1 – 4 petals made.  Fasten off.  Holding skirt so that ends of drawstring are at right side, sew flower to center front of skirt at bottom of waist ribbing (See photo).
