SIZE Approximately 2” wide x 40” longMATERIALS1 Ball BERROCO SUEDE DELUXE (50 grs), #3904 Hopalong GoldAfghan hook, size 4.50 mm (G) Five 2” plastic rings NOTEThere are no gauge requirements for this project.AFGHAN STITCHRow 1 (first section): Insert hook under back loop only of 2nd ch from hook forming a loop on hook. Keeping all loops on hook, draw up a loop under back loop of each ch to end. (second section): Yo, draw through first loop, * yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, rep from * until 1 loop remains. This loop is the first st on next row. DO NOT turn. Row 2 (first section): Keeping all loops on hook, insert hook under 2nd vertical bar from hook, yo and draw up a loop, * draw up a loop in each vertical bar to last bar, insert hook under 2 strands of last st, draw up a loop. Work second section same as Row 1. Rep Row 2 for Afghan St. BELTSolid Section: With afghan hook, ch 201. Work in Afghan St until Row 2 has been completed twice. Fasten off. Ch 119, join with a sl st in 120th st of last row worked. Fasten off. With RS facing, skip 39 sts of last row worked, join yarn and ch 42. Next Row: With RS facing, join yarn in first st of longer ch and work first section of Row 1 of Afghan St across ch, work first section of Row 2 of Afghan St across center 39 sts, work first section of Row 1 of Afghan Stitch to end. Work second section of Row 1 across all sts. Work Row 2 of Afghan St twice more. Fasten off. FINISHINGTie a knot in the end of each short tie. Attaching Rings: Thread both long ties from back to front under 1 side of first ring pulling ring up to 6” from solid section of belt. Hold second ring in front of first ring and slightly to the left. Thread both ties from front to back over 1 side of second ring, then from front to back under the other side of first ring. Hold third ring under second ring and slightly to the left. Now thread both ties from back to front under 1 side of third ring, then from front to back over the other side of second ring. Hold fourth ring under third ring and slightly to the left. Thread both ties from back to front under 1 side of fourth ring, then from back to front over the other side of third ring. Hold fifth ring under fourth ring and slightly to the left. Thread both ties from back to front over 1 side of fifth ring, then from front to back over the other side of fourth ring. Thread both ties from front to back under the other side of fifth ring. Tie a knot in the end of each long tie. Tie as in photo. |
