MATERIALS
BERROCO DENIM SILK (50 grs), 9(10-10-11-12-13)
hanks #1413 Stone Washed.
Straight knitting needles, size 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
2 double pointed needles (dpn), size 5.
Crochet Hook, size 4.50 mm (G).
GAUGE
13 sts = 4"; 30 rows = 4" in Lace Pat on size 8 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
LACE PATTERN (Multiple of 2 sts + 1)
Rows 1 and 3 (WS): Purl.
Row 2: K1, * yo, k2 tog, rep from * across.
Row 4: * SSK, yo, rep from * to last st, end k1.
Rep these 4 rows for Lace Pat.
BACK
With straight needles, cast on 53(57-67-71-77-83) sts. Keeping 1 st at
each edge in St st and remaining sts in Lace Pat, work even until piece
measures 14" from beg, end on WS. Mark beg and end of last row for
beg of armholes. Work even until armholes measure 6 1/2(6 1/2-7-7 1/2-8-8
1/2)", end on WS.
Shape Neck: Next Row (RS): Work 15(17-22-24-27-30) sts, join another
hank of yarn and bind off center 23 sts, work to end. Working both sides
at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every RS row once. When armholes measure
7(7-7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9)", end on WS. Bind off 14(16-21-23-26-29) sts
each side for shoulders.
FRONT
Work same as for back until piece measures 13 1/2", end on WS
53(57-67-71-77-83) sts.
Front Slit: Next Row (RS): Work 25(27-32-34-37-40) sts, k1, join
another hank of yarn and bind off center st, work to end. Working both
sides at once, keep 1 st each side of slit in St st. When piece measures
14" from beg, end on WS. Mark beg and end of last row for beg of
armholes. Work even until armholes measure 4 1/2(4 1/2-5-5 1/2-6-6 1/2)",
end on WS.
Shape Neck: Bind off 4 sts at each slit edge once, 3 sts once,
2 sts once, then dec 1 st every RS row 3 times. When armholes measure
7(7-7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9)", end on WS. Bind off 14(16-21-23-26-29) sts
each side for shoulders. Sew shoulder seams.
SLEEVES
With RS facing, using straight needles, pick up and k45(45-49-51-55-59)
sts evenly spaced along armhole edge between markers. Keeping 1 st each
side in St st and remaining sts in Lace Pat, work even for 1", end
on WS. Note: To dec when working Lace Pat, eliminate the first and last
yo of RS rows. Dec 1 st each end of next row. Rep this dec every14th row
5(5-0-0-0-0) times more, every 12th row 5(5-5-10-0-0) times, every 10th
row 0(0-7-1-13-5) times, then every 8th row 0(0-0-0-0-10) times
23(23-23-27-27-27) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 20" or desired
length, end on WS. Bind off all sts.
FINISHING
Steam piece lightly. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Neck and Slit Edging: With RS facing, using crochet hook, join
yarn at center back neck and work 1 row sc around entire neck and slit
edge, working 3 scs in each corner. Join with a sl st in first sc.
Fasten off.
I-Cords: With RS facing, using dpns, pick up and k3 sts in
edging at top of right side of slit and work as follows:
Next Row (RS): * K3, do not turn work. Slide sts to beg of needle
to work next row from RS. Rep from * until cord measures 10" from
beg. Fasten off. Repeat for left side of slit.
Tassels (Make 2): Cut fifteen 5" long strands of yarn for
tassel. Cut two 10" long strands of yarn for tying. Fold 5"
long strands of yarn in half around 1st 10" strand of yarn. Wrap
2nd 10" strand several times around tassel 1/2" down from fold
and fasten securely. Tie 1st 10" strand to end of I-Cord. Trim all
ends.
