FIRST SQUARE

With smaller crochet hook, using Memoirs, ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1:  Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-2), (4 dc in ring, ch 2) 3 times, 3 dc in ring, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5.  Sl st into ch-2 space.

Rnd 2:  Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-2), 4 dc in same space, ch 1, * (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) all in next ch-2 space (corner made), ch 1; rep from * 3 times, end 3 dc in beg ch-2 space, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5.  Sl st into ch-2 space.

Rnd 3:  Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-2), 4 dc in same space, * ch 1, 4 dc in ch-1 space, ch 1 **, (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) all in next ch-2 space (corner made); rep from * 3 times, then rep from * to ** once more, end 3 dc in beg ch-2 space, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5.  Sl st into ch-2 space.

Rnd 4:  Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-2), 4 dc in same space, ch 1, ** * 4 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1*; rep from * to * to next ch-2 corner space, (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) all in next ch-2 space (corner made), ch 1 **; rep from ** to ** 3 times more, then rep from * to * once more, end 3 dc in beg ch-2 space, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5.  Sl st into ch-2 space.

Rnd 5: Rep Rnd 4.  Fasten off.

JOINING SQUARE

Work same as first square until Rnd 4 has been completed.

Rnd 5 (Joining Rnd):  Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-2), 4 dc in same space, ch 1, * 4 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1 *; rep from * to * to next ch-2 corner space, 4 dc in ch-2 space, ch 1, holding WS of squares tog, sl st in corner ch-2 space of first square, ch 1, 2 dc in same space, sl st in space between 2nd and 3rd dc of first square, 2 dc in same space, sl st in ch-1 space of first square, ** 2 dc in next ch-1 space, sl st in space between 2nd and 3rd dc of first square, 2 dc in same space, sl st in ch-1 space of first square **; rep from ** to ** to next ch-2 corner space, 2 dc in ch-2 space, sl st between 2nd and 3rd dc of first square, 2 dc in same ch-2 space, ch 1, sl st in ch-2 space of first square, ch 1, complete rnd as for first square.  Rep Joining Square until a total of 10 squares have been completed.

FINISHING

Border:  Rnd 1:  With RS facing, using smaller crochet hook, join Memoirs in top left-hand ch-2 corner space.  Note:  Each dc and ch-1 space counts as one st across side of square.  Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-2), dc in same space, (ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next st) 12 times, ch 1, skip ch-2 space, dc in joining rnd, * skip ch-2 space, (ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next st) 12 times, ch 1, rep from * across to next corner, (dc, ch 2, dc) all in same ch-2 space, rep from * around, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5.  Sl st into ch-2 space.

Rnd 2:  Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-2), *2 dc in same space, * dc in each dc and ch-1 space to next corner,  (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) all in ch-2 space; rep from * around, end dc in each dc and ch-1 space to beg corner, dc in beg ch-2 space, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5.  Sl st into ch-2 space.

Rnd 3:  Ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) all in same space, * sc in each dc to next corner,  (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 space; rep from * around, end sc in each dc to beg corner, join with a sl st in first sc.  Fasten off.

Small Flower (Make 3):  With larger crochet hook, using Yoga, ch 4, 1 sc in 4th st from hook, * ch 3, 1 sc in same st, rep from * twice more – 4 ch-3 spaces.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, * (1 sc, 1 dc, 3 tr and 1 dc) all in next ch-3 space, rep from * around, join with a sl st in ch-1 – 4 petals made.

Rnd 3:  Holding petals forward, * ch 3, sl st in back of center petal on Rnd 1, ch 3, sl st between 2 petals on Rnd 1, rep from * around – 8 ch-3 spaces.

Rnd 4:  Ch 1, * (1 sc, 1 dc, 3 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc) all in next ch-3 space, rep from * around – 8 petals made.  Fasten off.

Large Flower (Make 2):  Work same as small flower until Rnd 4 has been completed – 8 petals.

Rnd 5:  Holding petals forward, * ch 5, sl st in back of center petal on Rnd 4, rep from * around – 8 ch-5 spaces.

Rnd 6:  Ch 1, (1 sc, 1 dc, 5 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc) all in next ch-5 space, rep from * around – 8 petals made.  Fasten off.  Sew one large flower and two small flowers to one end of scarf and one large flower and one small flower to the other end as in photo.
