SIZE

Approximately 5” across widest part of ruffle x 70” long

 

MATERIALS

4 Hanks BERROCO ULTRA ALPACA LIGHT (50 grs), #4249 Fennel

Straight knitting needles, size 5 (4.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

29" Circular knitting needle, size 5 ( 4.00 mm)

4 St markers

Tapestry needle

 

GAUGE

23 sts = 4”;  32 rows = 4” in St st

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

 

RUFFLE 1 (Make 2)

With straight needles, cast on 70 sts.

Row 1 (WS): P1, place marker, * p17, place marker, rep from * 3 times more, k1.

Row 2: K1, sl marker, * k2 tog, k to 2 sts before marker, SSK, sl marker, rep from * 3 times more, k1 – 62 sts.

Row 3: Purl. Rep Rows 2 and 3 until 14 sts remain, end on WS.

Next Row (RS): K1, (k3 tog) 4 times, k1 – 6 sts. Break off yarn leaving a 6” long end. Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needle. Pull up tightly and secure.

 

RUFFLE 2 (Make 2)
With straight needles, cast on 78 sts.

Row 1 (WS): P1, place marker, * p19, place marker, rep from * 3 times more, k1. Complete same as Ruffle 1.

 

RUFFLE 3 (Make 2)

With straight needles, cast on 86 sts.

Row 1 (WS): P1, place marker, * p21, place marker, rep from * 3 times more, k1. Complete same as Ruffle 1.

 

RUFFLE 4 (Make 2)

With straight needles, cast on 94 sts.

Row 1 (WS): P1, place marker, * p23, place marker, rep from * 3 times more, k1. Complete same as Ruffle 1.

 

RUFFLE 5 (Make 2)

With straight needles, cast on 102 sts.

Row 1 (WS): P1, place marker, * p25, place marker, rep from * 3 times more, k1. Complete same as Ruffle 1.

 

BAND

With circular needle, cast on 10 sts, with RS facing, pick up and k26 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 1, 30 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 2, 34 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 3, 38 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 4, (42 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 5) twice, 38 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 4, 34 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 3, 30 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 2, then 26 sts along the k1 edges of Ruffle 1; cast on 10 sts – 360 sts.

Rows 1 and 2: Knit.

Row 3: P2, * yo, p2 tog, rep from * across.

Rows 4, 5 and 6: Knit. Bind off knitwise.

 

FINISHING

Ruffle Edging: With RS facing, using circular needle, pick up and k70 sts along the outer edge of Ruffle 1.

Row 1: Knit.

Row 2: K2, * yo, k2, rep from * across. Knit 2 rows. Bind off knitwise. Work in same manner on the outer edge of each ruffle, picking up 78 sts along Ruffle 2, 86 sts along Ruffle 3, 94 sts along Ruffle 4 and 102 sts along Ruffle 5. Overlap the corners of all Ruffle Edgings and sew in place.
