BODY

With longer circular needle, cast on 185(205-225-245-265-285) sts.  Work even in Pat St until 54 rows have been completed, end on WS.  Piece should measure approximately 8 1/4” from beg.  Work even in St st until piece measures 10 1/2” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes:  Next Row (RS):  K40(45-50-55-59-65), sl these sts to holder for right front;  bind off next 10 sts, work until there are 85(95-105-115-127-135) sts on RH needle after bound-off sts, sl remaining 50(55-60-65-69-75) sts onto holder for left front.

BACK

Change to straight needles.  Dec 1 st each side EVERY row 8 times – 69(79-89-99-111-119) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 8(8 1/2-9-9-9 1/2-10)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders and Neck:  Bind off 5(6-8-10-12-12) sts, work until there are 11(15-17-19-23-27) sts on RH needle, join another hank of yarn and bind off center 37(37-39-41-41-41) sts, k to end.  Working both sides at once, bind off 5(6-8-10-12-12) sts at beg of the next row, then 5(7-8-9-11-13) sts at beg of the next 4 rows.  AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge once.

RIGHT FRONT

With WS facing, sl 40(45-50-55-59-65) sts from first holder to straight needles.  Join yarn and p2 tog, p to end.  Dec 1 st at armhole edge EVERY row 7 times more – 32(37-42-47-51-57) sts.  Work even until armhole measures 3(3 1/2-4-4-4 1/2-5)”, end on WS.

Shape Neck:  Dec 1 st at beg of the next row.  Rep this dec EVERY row 4(4-6-8-4-8) times more, then every RS row 12(12-11-10-12-10) times – 15(20-24-28-34-38) sts.  Work even until armhole measures 8(8 1/2-9-9-9 1/2-10)”, end on RS.

Shape Shoulder:  Bind off 5(6-8-10-12-12) sts at armhole edge once, then 5(7-8-9-11-13) sts twice.

LEFT FRONT

With RS facing, sl 50(55-60-65-69-75) sts from holder to straight needles.  Join yarn and bind off 10 sts, k to end – 40(45-50-55-59-65) sts.  Complete to correspond to right front, reversing all shaping.  Dec for neck at end of RS rows.  Bind off for shoulder on RS rows instead of WS.

FINISHING

Sew shoulder seams.

Front/Neckband:  With RS facing, using longer circular needle, beg at lower right front edge, pick up and k66(68-70-70-72-74) sts along right front edge to first neck dec, 37 sts along right front neck edge, 36(36-36-40-40-40) sts across back neck edge, 37 sts along left front edge, then 66(68-70-70-72-74) sts along left front edge – 242(246-250-254-258-262) sts.

Row 1 (WS):  P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.

Row 2:  K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.  Rep Row 1 once more, end on WS.

Buttonhole Row (RS):  Work 8(10-9-9-11-10) sts, k2 tog, yo, * work 16(16-17-17-17-18) sts, k2 tog, yo, rep from * twice more, work to end.  Work even in ribbing as established until band measures 1”, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.

Armbands:  With RS facing, using shorter circular needles, beg at center of underarm, pick up and k100(104-108-108-112-116) sts around entire armhole edge.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work even in k2, p2 ribbing for 1”.  Bind off in ribbing.  Sew on buttons.
