SIZE 7” wide x 4 1/2” long (Not including handles).
MATERIALS BERROCO HUSH (50 grs), 1 ball #6308 Paddy Wack.
Straight knitting needles, size 11 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
11 1/2” of 1/2” diameter clear plastic tubing.
Two 1 1/2” diameter binder rings.
One 1” button.
1 Awl.
GAUGE
12 stitches = 4”; 16 rows = 4” in St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
BAG
With straight needles, cast on 16 sts. Work even in St st for 4”, end on WS. Cast on 12 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 40 sts. Work even for 2”, end on WS. Bind off 12 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 16 sts. Work even for 4”, end on WS. Bind off all sts.
FINISHING
Fold up flaps and sew 4 corner seams tog with whipstitches. Open one binder ring and insert one end through each corner on short side of bag, pulling corners together. Repeat with the other ring in opposite corners. Using awl, make a hole through plastic tubing ½” from each end. Cut four 18” long strands of yarn and thread these strands through plastic tubing. Tie strands in a knot at each end of tubing and trim ends, leaving 2½” at each end for tassels. Insert one end of binder ring through hole in end of plastic tubing and close ring. Repeat with the other ring at opposite end of tubing. Sew button to center front of bag 1” down from top edge.
