Fubu Scarf & Bag

Skill level: Very Easy

SIZE
Scarf – 4” wide x 30” long.
Bag – 10” wide x 7 1/2” long (Not including handles).

MATERIALS
BERROCO  TUTU (50 grs), 1 ball #5798 Downtown Lights for Scarf, 2 balls for Bag.
Straight knitting needles, size 17 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
1 Set (2) horseshoe-shaped plastic handles from MJ Trimmings, measuring 5 1/2” across open end and 4 1/2” long for Bag. Note:  Handles have a hole at each end for sewing to bag.

GAUGE
8 sts = 4”;  12 rows = 4” in St st and Reverse St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

SCARF
With straight needles, cast on 8 sts.  Work even in St st until ball is almost entirely gone.  Bind off all sts.

BAG

BACK
With straight needles, cast on 20 sts.  Work even in Reverse St st for 6 1/2”, end on WS.  Mark beg and end of last row for beg of top.  Dec 1 st at beg of the next 2 rows.  Work 2 rows even, end on WS.  Bind off remaining 18 sts.

FRONT
Work same as for back.

FINISHING
Sew pieces tog along side and lower edges from one marker to the other.  Sew ends of first handle to each end of bound-off edge of back.  In same manner, sew second handle to front.  Note:  Bound-off edge between handles will drape slightly.
