Fanilla is a swing shaped pullover knit in Foliage®. Fitted at the bust, a knit-in godet gives this sweater its fullness, molds the self striping yarn into chevrons and shapes the hemline all at the same time.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Bust – 36(40-44-48-52)”
Length – 28(28-28 1/2-29-29)” measured down center back

 

MATERIALS

8(9-11-13-15) Balls BERROCO FOLIAGE (50 grs), #5963 Lavender Twist

Straight knitting needles, sizes 10 1/2 (7.00 mm) and 11 (8.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

16” Length circular knitting needles, sizes 10 1/2 (7.00 mm) and 11 (8.00 mm)

4 St markers

 

GAUGE

13 sts = 4”;  18 rows = 4” in St st on larger needles

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

 

BACK

With smaller straight needles, cast on 114(122-130-138-146) sts.

Ribbing:  Row 1 (RS):  K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.

Row 2:  P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 1” from beg, end on WS.  Change to larger straight needles.

Dec Row (RS):  K2, * p2 tog, k2, rep from * across – 86(92-98-104-110) sts.

Next Row (WS):  P29(33-36-39-42), place marker, p13(12-12-12-12), place marker, p2, place marker, p13(12-12-12-12), place marker, p to end.  Knit 1 row. 

Row 1 (dec row) (RS):  K to 1st marker, sl marker, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k to next marker, M1k, sl marker, k2, sl marker, M1k, k to 3 sts before next marker, k3 tog, sl marker, k to end – 84(90-96-102-108) sts.

Rows 2, 4 and 6:  Purl.

Rows 3 and 5:  K to 1st marker, sl marker, k2 tog, k to next marker, M1k, sl marker, k2, sl marker, M1k, k to 2 sts before next marker, k2 tog, sl marker, k to end.  Rep the last 6 rows 9(11-11-11-11) times, end on WS – 66(68-74-80-82) sts.  Rep Rows one – four  4(1-1-1-1) times, end on WS – 58(66-72-78-84) sts.  At this point, there should be no sts between the 4 markers.  Drop all markers and work even if necessary until piece measures 18” from beg when measured straight down center, end on WS.

Shape Raglan Armholes:  Bind off 3(5-7-9-12) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 52(56-58-60-60) sts.

Dec Row (RS):  K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1 – 50(54-56-58-58) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 13(17-18-19-19) times more, then every 4th row 2(0-0-0-0) times, end on WS.  Bind off remaining 20 sts.

 

FRONT

Work same as back until armholes measure approximately 6½(6½-7-7½-7½)” and there are 24(26-26-26-26) sts on needle, end on WS.  Mark center 12 sts on needle.

Shape Neck:  Next Row (RS):  Continuing to work armhole decs, work to marker, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 12 sts, work to end.  Working both sides at once, continue to work armhole decs and AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge EVERY row 3 times.  When all armhole and neck decs have been completed, fasten off last st each side.

 

SLEEVES

With smaller straight needles, cast on 38 sts.  Work in ribbing same as back for 2”, end on RS.  Change to larger straight needles and p the next row, dec 8 sts across – 30 sts.  Working in St st, inc 1 st each side every 3(3-2½-1¾-1½)” 5(5-6-8-9) times – 40(40-42-46-48) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Raglan Cap:  Bind off 3(5-7-9-12) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 34(30-28-28-24) sts.

Dec Row (RS):  K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1 – 32(28-26-26-22) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 3(0-0-0-0) times more, every 4th row 7(8-4-3-0) times, every 6th row 0(0-3-4-3) times, then every 8th row 0(0-0-0-2) times.  Work even if necessary until cap measures 8(8-8 1/2-9-9)” above bound-off sts, end on WS.  Bind off remaining 12 sts.

 

FINISHING

Sew raglan sleeve caps to raglan armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams.

Turtleneck:  With RS facing, using smaller circular needle, pick up and k20 sts across back neck edge, 14 sts across top of left sleeve, 10 sts along left front neck edge, 12 sts across front neck edge, 10 sts along right front neck edge, then 14 sts across top of right sleeve – 80 sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work even in k2, p2 ribbing for 6”.  Change to larger circular needle and work even in k2, p2 ribbing until turtleneck measures 10” from beg.  Bind off in ribbing.
