Dram Set includes a scarf, hat and mittens, all crocheted in a wave stitch pattern. Knitters, take a look at Kilo, the knitted version of this set.

SIZE

Hat:  Circumference – approximately 20”; Length – approximately 9”

Mittens:  Approximately 4” across x 9 1/2” long

Scarf:  Approximately 6” wide x 24” long (Not including fringe)

 

MATERIALS

2 Balls BERROCO KELTIC (50 grs), #5866 Argyll for Hat, 2 balls for Mittens and 3 balls for Scarf

Crochet hooks, size 5.00 mm (H) for Hat and Scarf and size 6.00 mm (J) for Mittens OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

 

GAUGE

16 sc’s = 1”;  12 rows = 4” in sc with size 5.00 mm (H) hook

12 dc’s = 4”;  7 rows = 4” in dc with size 6.00 mm (J) hook

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

 

HAT

With smaller crochet hook, ch 32, join with a sl st being careful not to twist ch.

Rnd 1:  Ch 1 (counts as 1 sc), sc in each of the next 4 ch’s, 3 sc’s in next ch, sc in each of the next 5 ch’s, skip 1 ch, * sc in each of the next 5 ch’s, 3 sc’s in next ch, sc in each of the next 5 ch’s, skip 1 ch, rep from * twice more, join with a sl st in ch-1 – 52 sc’s.

Rnds 2 and 3:  Ch 1 (counts as 1 sc), working through back loops, sc in each of the next 4 sc’s, 3 sc’s in next sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc’s, skip 2 sc’s, * sc in each of the next 5 sc’s, 3 sc’s in next sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc’s, skip 2 sc’s, rep from * twice more, join with a sl st in ch-1.

Rnd 15:  Ch 1 (counts as 1 sc), working through back loops, sc in each of the next 3 sc’s, 2 sc’s in next sc, sc in each of the next 3 sc’s, 3 sc’s in next sc, sc in each of the next 3 sc’s, 2 sc’s in next sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc’s, skip 2 sc’s, * sc in each of the next 4 sc’s, 2 sc’s in next sc, sc in each of the next 3 sc’s, 3 sc’s in next sc, sc in each of the next 3 sc’s, 2 sc’s in next sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc’s, skip 2 sc’s, rep from * twice more, join with a sl st in ch-1 – 84 sc’s.

Rnd 16:  Ch 1 (counts as 1 sc), working through back loops, sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in ch-1.  Rep Rnd 16 nine times more or until hat measures 9” from beg.  Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Fold 1 pat repeat at top of hat in half with lowest point on your right.  Sew edges tog.  Repeat with each pat repeat.  There should be 4 seams all converging at center point.  Fasten securely at center.

 

RIGHT MITTEN

With larger crochet hook, ch 23, join being careful not to twist ch.

Rnd 1:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in each ch around, join with a sl st in top of ch-3 – 24 dc’s.

Rnd 2:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in each of the next 11 dc’s, skip 1 dc, dc in each of the next 3 dc’s, skip 1 dc, 5 tr’s in next dc, skip 1 dc, dc in each of the next 3 dc’s, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, join with a sl st in top of ch-3.

Rnd 3:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in each dc and tr around, join with a sl st in top of ch-3 – 24 dc’s.  Rep Rnds 2 and 3 twice more, then rep Rnd 2 once more.  Piece should measure approximately 4 1/2” from beg.

Thumb Opening:  Next Rnd:  Ch 6 (counts as 1 dc and ch-3), skip 3 dc’s, dc in each dc and tr around, join with a sl st in 3rd st of beg ch-6.

Following Rnd:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 3 dc’s in ch-3 space, dc in each of the next 8 dc’s, skip 1 dc, dc in each of the next 3 dc’s, skip 1 dc, 5 tr’s in next dc, skip 1 dc, dc in each of the next 3 dc’s, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, join with a sl st in top of ch-3.  Work Rnd 3 once more.  Rep Rnds 2 and 3 twice more – 24 dc’s.

Shape Top:  Dec Rnd 1:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in next dc, * (insert hook in next dc and draw up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook) twice, yo and pull through all loops on hook (dec made), dc in next dc, rep from * 6 times more, dc in last dc, join with a sl st in top of ch-3 – 14 dc’s.

Dec Rnd 2:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), * (insert hook in next dc and draw up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook) 3 times, yo and pull through all loops on hook (2 dc’s dec’d), rep from * 3 times more, dc in last dc, join with a sl st in top of ch-3 – 6 dc’s.  Fasten off.  Break off yarn leaving an end.  Draw end through last 6 dc’s and gather tightly tog.  Secure at top of mitten.

Thumb:  With RS facing, using crochet hook, join yarn, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), then work 8 dc’s around thumb opening, join with a sl st in top of ch-3 – 9 dc’s.

Rnds 2 and 3:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 1 dc in each dc around, join with a sl st in top of ch-3.

Dec Rnd 1:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in next dc, (dec 1 dc over next 2 dc’s, dc in next dc) twice, dc in last dc, join with a sl st in top of ch-3 – 7 dc’s.

Dec Rnd 2:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), (dec 1 dc over next 2 dc’s) twice, join with a sl st in top of ch-3 – 5 dc’s.  Fasten off.  Break off yarn leaving an end.  Draw end through 5 dc’s at top, pull in and fasten securely.

 

LEFT MITTEN

Work same as right mitten until piece measures approximately 4 1/2” from beg, end with Rnd 2.

Thumb Opening:  Next Rnd:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in each of the next 8 dc’s, ch 3, skip 3 dc’s, dc in each dc to end, join with a sl st in top of ch-3.

Following Rnd:  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in each of the next 8 dc’s, 3 dc’s in ch-3 space, skip 1 dc, dc in each of the next 3 dc’s, skip 1 dc, 5 tr’s in next dc, skip 1 dc, dc in each of the next 3 dc’s, skip 1 dc, dc in last dc, join with a sl st in top of ch-3.  Complete same as right mitten.

 

SCARF

With smaller crochet hook, ch 194.

Row 1:  Work 2 sc’s in 2nd ch from hook, * 1 sc in each of the next 7 ch’s, skip 1 ch, 1 sc in each of the next 7 ch’s, 3 sc’s in next ch, * rep between *’s to last ch, 2 sc’s in last ch.  Turn.

Row 2:  Ch 1, working through back loops, 2 sc’s in 1st sc, * 1 sc in each of the next 7 sc’s, skip 2 sc’s, 1 sc in each of the next 7 sc’s, 3 sc’s in next sc *, rep between *’s to last st, end 2 sc’s in last sc.  Rep Row 2 until piece measures 6” from beg.  Fasten off.

Fringe:  With smaller crochet hook, join yarn in corner of scarf.  Working across short end, * Ch 45, (sc in end of next row) twice, rep from * across, end ch 45, sc in end of last row.  Fasten off.  Repeat on the other short end of scarf.

Note:  Chains between sc’s will naturally twist on themselves looking like photo.
