Row 2:
  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 2 dc’s in next ch-1 space, 1 dc in next ch-1 space, 3 dc’s in next ch-1 space – 7 dc’s.  Turn.
Row 3:
  Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 2 dc’s between next 2 dc’s, * 1 dc between next 2 dc’s, rep from * across, end 3 dc’s between last 2 dc’s – 10 dc’s.  Turn.  Rep Row 3, increasing 3 dc’s each row, 38 times more – 127 dc’s.  Working from left to right, work 1 row Reverse sc across.  Fasten off.

FRINGE
Cut two 16” long strands of yarn.  Put strands tog and fold in half.  With crochet hook, draw center of strands through ch-3 space along edge of shawl forming a loop.  Pull ends of fringe through this loop.  In this manner, make 2 fringes in each ch-3 space along side edges of shawl.  Make 2 fringes in each ch-1 space of Row 1.  Trim fringe to even off if necessary.
Note:  For speedier cutting, wrap yarn multiple times around a piece of cardboard that is the desired finished length of the fringe.  Cut lower edge to free wrapped strands.
