SIZES

Directions are for women’s size X-Small.  Changes for sizes Small, Medium, Large, 1X and 2X are in parentheses.

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Bust – 33(35-37-39-43-47)”.

Length – 23 1/2(23 1/2-24-24-24 1/2-24 1/2)”.

Note:  This garment is designed to fit very close to the body.  Please take this into consideration when selecting your size.

 

MATERIALS

BERROCO GLACE (50 grs), 8(9-10-11-12-13) hanks #2529 Pomegranate.

Straight knitting needles, size 7 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

29” Length circular knitting needle, size 7.

 

GAUGE

20 sts = 4”;  28 rows = 4” in St st on size 7 needles.

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

NOTE

The front armholes are 2” longer than the back to allow for the front twist.

 

BACK

With straight needles, cast on 83(87-93-97-107-117) sts.  Purl 3 rows.  Work even in St st until piece measures 3” from beg, end on WS.

Dec Row (RS):  K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1 – 81(85-91-95-105-115) sts.  Rep this dec every 1” 4 times more – 73(77-83-87-97-107) sts.  Work even until piece measures 9” from beg, end on WS.

Inc Row (RS):  K1, M1k, k to last st, M1k, k1 – 75(79-85-89-99-109) sts.  Rep this inc every 1 1/4” 4 times more – 83(87-93-97-107-117) sts.  Work even until piece measures 15” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes:  Bind off 5(5-5-6-6-7) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 73(77-83-85-95-103) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every RS row 9(11-11-11-14-16) times – 55(55-61-63-67-71) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 7 1/2(7 1/2-8-8-8 1/2-8 1/2)”, end on WS.

Shape Neck:  Next Row (RS):  K14(14-16-17-18-20), join another hank of yarn and bind off center 27(27-29-29-31-31) sts, k to end.  Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every RS row twice.  Bind off remaining 12(12-14-15-16-18) sts each side for shoulders.

 

FRONT

Work same as for back until piece measures 14 1/2” from beg, end on WS – 83(87-93-97-107-117) sts.

Note:  Please read through this entire section before starting to knit.

Shape V-Neck:  K41(43-46-48-53-58), join another hank of yarn and bind off center st, k to end.  Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every other RS row 15(15-16-16-17-17) times.  AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 15” from beg, end on WS, then shape armholes same as for back.   When all armhole and neck decs have been completed, work even on 12(12-14-15-16-18) sts until armholes measure 10 1/2(10 1/2-11-11-11 1/2-11 1/2)”, end on WS.  Bind off all sts each side for shoulders.

 

FINISHING

Steam pieces with hot steam iron and a pressing cloth.

Front Neck Edging:  With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at left shoulder, pick up and k55(55-57-57-59-59 sts along left front neck edge, 1 st in bound-off st at center, then 55(55-57-57-59-59) sts along right front neck edge – 111(111-115-115-119-119) sts.  Bind off all sts knitwise.

Back Neck Edging:  With RS facing, using straight needles, pick up and k31(31-33-33-35-35) sts along back neck edge.  Bind off all sts knitwise.  Sew side seams.

Left Armhole Edging:  With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at outer edge of left back shoulder, pick up and k55(55-57-57-59-59) sts along left back armhole edge to side seam then 55(55-57-57-59-59) sts along left front armhole to left front shoulder – 110(110-114-114-118-118) sts.  Bind off all sts knitwise.

Right Armhole Edging:  Beg at outer edge of right front shoulder, work to correspond to left armhole edging.  Lay garment flat in front of you with front on top of back.  Bring left front to the right, then right front over left front to the left.  Bring left front back to left and pin left front shoulder to back shoulder.  Bring right front under left front and back to right and pin right front shoulder to back shoulder.  This forms the front twist.  Sew shoulder and edging seams.
