14 sts = 4”;  24 rows = 4” in Garter Stitch (knit every row) with all colors.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTE
This throw is made all in one piece, adding squares as you go along.  The designer was working with partial balls, so when she finished a ball of A, she tied on a ball of B and worked until that ball was completed, etc.  For this reason, you may see a row or 2 of one square done with the color preceding it.  To achieve a very close version of ours, follow the chart.  Otherwise, make up your own design and have a truly unique piece of art.

THROW
Square 1:  With straight needles, using A, cast on 31 sts.
Rows 1 and 2:  Knit.
Row 3 (Right Side Row):  K14, k3 tog, k14 – 29 sts.
Row 4:  Knit.
Row 5:  K13, k3 tog, k13 – 27 sts.
Row 6:  Knit.  In this manner, continue to dec 2 sts in center of every other row until 3 sts remain, end when you have just completed a wrong side row.  K3 tog leaving last stitch on needle.
Square 2:  With RS facing, using A, pick up and k14 sts along left edge of square 1, then cast on 16 sts – 31 sts.  Complete same as for square 1.  Continue in this way to make 3 more squares, changing colors as in note, so that you have a row of 5 squares.  Fasten off.
Square 6:  Cast on 15 sts, then with RS facing, pick up and k16 stitches along upper edge of square 1 – 31 sts.  Beg with Row 2, complete same as for square 1.
Square 7:  With RS facing, pick up and k14 sts along left edge of square 6, then pick up and k16 sts along upper edge of square 2 – 31 sts.  Beg with Row 2, complete same as for square 1.  In this manner, continue to add squares until you have 8 rows of 5 squares each.
