Straight knitting needles, size 15 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16” Circular knitting needle, size 13.
1 St Marker.
2 St Holders.
GAUGE
5 sts = 2”; 7 rows = 2” in St st on size 15 needles.

STITCH GLOSSARY
KSP
K1, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (1 st dec’d).
K2SP
K2 tog, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (2 sts dec’d).
BACK
With straight needles, cast on 45(50-55-60-68) sts. Work even in St st for 4”, end on WS. Mark beg and end of last row for side slit. Work even until piece measures 5” from beg, end on RS. Knit 1 row for Garter Ridge, then work even until piece measures 16½” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Row 1 (RS): K2, KSP, k to last 4 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k2. Continue to dec in this manner every RS row 3 times more, then every other RS row twice. Work even on 33(38-43-48-56) sts until armholes measure 7(7-1/2-8-8-1/2-9)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 4(5-6-7-9) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 3(4-5-6-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Sl remaining 19(20-21-22-22) sts onto holder for back neck.
FRONT
Work same as for back until armholes measure 5-1/2(6-6-1/2-7-7-1/2)”, end on WS.
Note: Work decs on left side of neck as sl 1, k1, psso, k2. Work decs on right side of neck as k2, KSP.
Shape Neck: K11(13-15-17-21), sl center 11(12-13-14-14) sts onto holder, join another hank of yarn and k to end. Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge as in note every RS row 4 times. AT THE SAME TIME, when armholes measure 7(7½-8-8½-9)”, shape shoulders same as for back.
SLEEVES
With straight needles, cast on 20 sts. Work even in St st for 1”, end on WS.
Next Row (RS): K1, M1k, k to last st, M1k, k1. Continue to inc in this manner every 4th row 0(0-0-2-5) times, every 6th row 0(2-6-7-5) times, every 8th row 2(5-2-0-0) times, then every 10th row 4(0-0-0-0) times. AT THE SAME TIME, when sleeve measures 5” from beg, end on RS. Knit 1 row for Garter Ridge. When all incs have been completed, work even on 34(36-38-40-42) sts until sleeve measures 18(17-17-16-1/2-16-1/2)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Row 1 (RS): K2, K2SP, k to last 5 sts, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k2.
Row 2: Purl. Rep these 2 rows 3 times more, end on WS
Next Row (RS): K2, KSP, k to last 4 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k2. Bind off remaining 16(18-20-22-24) sts loosely purlwise.
FINISHING
Steam pieces lightly. Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back, k9(10-11-11-11) sts from holder, pick up and k9 sts along left front neck edge, k11(12-13-14-14) sts from front holder, pick up and k9 sts along right front neck edge, then k remaining 10(10-10-11-11) sts from back holder – 48(50-52-54-54) sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Work even in St st (k EVERY round) for 4”. Bind off all sts loosely. Beg at markers, sew side and sleeve seams, leaving 4” long slits at each side.
