MATERIALS
BERROCO PRONTO (50 grs), 12(12-13-14-15) balls #4427 Green Tea.
Straight knitting needles, sizes 9 and 10-1/2 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16” length circular knitting needle, size 9.
1 St Marker.
GAUGE
13 sts = 4”; 19 rows = 4” in St st on size 10-1/2 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
STITCH GLOSSARY
KSP
K1, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (1 st dec’d).
BACK
With smaller straight needles, cast on 53(59-65-73-83) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.
Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 6” from beg, end on Row 1. Change to larger needles and p the next row, inc 1(1-1-0-0) st at end – 54(60-66-73-83) sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 11” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 3(3-3-3-4) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.
Next Row (RS): K2, KSP, k to last 4 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k2. P 1 row. Rep these 2 rows 4 times more – 38(44-50-57-65) sts. Work even until armholes measure 8(8-8-1/2-9-9-1/2)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 4(6-7-8-10) sts, k until there are 5(6-8-9-11) sts on RH needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 20(20-20-23-23) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 4(6-7-8-10) sts at beg of the next row, then 4(5-7-8-10) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge once.
FRONT
Work same as for back until armholes measure 6-1/2(6-1/2-7-7-1/2-8)”, end on WS.
Note: Work decs on left side of neck as sl 1, k1, psso, k2. Work decs on right side of neck as k2, KSP.
Shape Neck: K12(15-18-20-24), join another ball of yarn and bind off center 14(14-14-17-17) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge as in note every RS row 4 times. AT THE SAME TIME, When armholes measure 8(8-8-1/2-9-9-1/2)”, bind off 4(6-7-8-10) sts at each armhole edge once, then 4(5-7-8-10) sts once.
SLEEVES
With smaller straight needles, cast on 35(35-35-37-37) sts. Work in ribbing same as for back until sleeve measures 6” from beg end on Row 1. Change to larger needles and p the next row, decreasing 5 sts evenly spaced across – 30(30-30-32-32) sts. Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every other row 0(0-0-1-7) times, every 4th row 0(0-5-9-5) times, then every 6th row 8(8-4-0-0) times – 46(46-48-52-56) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 17(17-16_-15-14)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 3(3-3-3-4) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side in same manner as for back every other RS row 3 times, then every RS row 5(5-5-6-6) times. Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 4 rows. Bind off remaining 12(12-14-16-18) sts.
FINISHING
Steam pieces. Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back neck, pick up and k16(16-16-17-17) sts across back neck edge, 12 sts along left front neck edge, 8(8-8-10-10) sts across front neck edge, 12 sts along right front neck edge and 16(16-16-17-17) sts across remaining back neck edge – 64(64-64-68-68) sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 3”. Bind off in ribbing. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
