Straight knitting needles, size 5 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
7-1/2" JHB buttons #70692 Cozumel Multi.
GAUGE
21 sts = 4"; 30 rows = 4" in St st and MC with size 5 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
Row 1 (RS): *K1, p1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: K the purl sts and p the knit sts.
Rep these 2 rows for Seed St.
BACK
With size 5 needles and CC, cast on 94(102-110-118-129-139) sts. Work in Seed st for 1". Change to MC and work in St st until piece measures 13-1/2(13-1/2-13-1/2-14-14-14)" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole: Bind off 3 (4-4-4-5-5) sts at beg of next 2 rows, 3 sts at beg of next 0(2-2-2-2-4) rows, then 2 sts at beg of next 4(2-2-4-4-6) rows. Dec 1 st each side on next row then every other row 2(3-3-3-4-3) times more. Work even on remaining 74(76-84-88-95-97) sts until armhole measures 7(7-1/2-8-8-1/2-9-9-1/2)".
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 5(6-8-7-8-9) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 6(6-7-8-9-9) sts at beg of next 4 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, bind off center 20(20-20-22-23-23) sts for neck and working both sides at once, bind off from each neck edge 4 sts once, 3 sts twice.
LEFT FRONT
With size 5 needles and CC, cast on 45(49-53-57-62-67) sts. Work in Seed St for 1". Change to MC and work in St st until same length as back to armhole. Shape armhole at beg of RS rows same as back. Work even in pat on remaining 35(36-40-42-45-46) sts until armhole measures 4-1/2(5-5-1/2-6-6-1/2-7)", end on RS.
Shape Neck: Next Row (WS): Bind off 5(5-5-6-6-6) sts (neck edge), work to end. Continue to bind off from neck edge 4 sts once, 3 sts twice, then dec 1 st every other row 3 times. Work even on remaining 17(18-22-23-26-27) sts until same length as back to shoulder. Shape shoulder at beg of RS rows same as back.
RIGHT FRONT
Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.
SLEEVES
With size 5 needles and CC, cast on 46(46-48-48-50-50) sts. Work in Seed St for 1". Change to MC and work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 4th row 0(0-0-0-2-11) times, every 6th row 0(3-7-13-15-9) times, then every 8th row 11(9-6-2-0-0) times. Work even on 68(70-74-78-84-90) sts until piece measures 13-1/2(14-14-14-1/2-15-15-1/2)" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 3 sts at beg of next 2(2-2-2-4-4) rows, then 2 sts at beg of next 2(2-0-0-0-2) rows. Dec 1 st each side on next row, then every other row 2(3-7-9-9-10) times more. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 22 rows.
FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Neckband: With RS facing using CC, pick up and k 31(31-31-32-33-33) sts along right front neck, 43(43-43-45-46-46) sts along back neck and 31(31-31-32-33-33) sts along left front neck. Work in seed st on 105(105-105-109-112-112) sts for 10 rows. Bind off.
Buttonband: With RS facing and CC, pick up and k 103(107-109-115-117-121) sts evenly along left front. Work in seed st for 10 rows. Bind off. Place markers on band for 7 buttons, the first and last ones 1" from each edge, and 5 others spaced evenly between.
Buttonhole band: Work same as buttonband, working buttonholes opposite markers in center of band as follows: yo, k2tog for each buttonhole. Sew on buttons.
