Directions are for women’s size Small. Changes for sizes Medium, Large and X-Large are in parentheses.

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust (buttoned) – 40(44-48-54)".
Length – 22(22-1/2-23-23-1/2)".

 

MATERIALS
BERROCO SMART COTTON (50 grs), 14(15-16-17 ) balls #1445 Beach Plum.
Straight knitting needles, sizes 5 and 7 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
6 1" BERROCO buttons #A445 Beach Plum.
2 St Holders.

 

GAUGE
21 sts = 4"; 30 rows = 4" in St st on size 7 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

STITCH GLOSSARY
KSP
K1, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (1 st dec’d).
K2SP
K2 tog, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (2 sts dec’d).

 

BACK
With smaller needles, cast on 115(125-135-151) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.
Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 1" from beg, end on Row 2, decreasing 10(9-9-9) sts evenly spaced across – 105(116-126-142) sts. Change to larger needles and work even in St st until piece measures 2" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Waist: Dec Row (RS): K2, SSK, k to last 4 sts, k2 tog, k2. Rep this dec every 1" 4 times more – 95(106-116-132) sts. Piece should measure 6" from beg. Work even until piece measures 7-1/2" from beg, end on WS.
Inc Row (RS): K2, M1k, k to last 2 sts, M1k, k2. Rep this inc every 1/2" 4 times more – 105(116-126-142) sts. Work even until piece measures 12" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Raglan Armholes: Bind off 2(2-6-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.
For size Small ONLY: Rows 3 and 4: Work even in St st.
Row 5 (RS): K3, KSP, k to last 5 sts, sl1, k1, psso, k3.
Row 6: Purl. Rep Rows 3-6 twice more, then rep Rows 5 and 6 32 times more, end on WS – 31 sts. Bind off all sts.
For sizes Medium and Large ONLY: Row 3 (RS): K3, KSP, k to last 5 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k3.
Row 4: Purl. Rep these 2 rows 39(39) times more – 32(34) sts. Bind off all sts.
For size X-Large ONLY: Row 3 (RS): K3, K2SP, k to last 6 sts, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k3.
Row 4: Purl. Rep these 2 rows 6 times more.
Row 17: K3, KSP, k to last 5 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k3.
Row 18: Purl. Rep these 2 rows 33 times more – 34 sts. Bind off all sts.

 

LEFT FRONT
With smaller needles, cast on 60(66-70-78) sts.
Row 1 (RS): * K1, p1, rep from * to last 2 sts, end k2.
Row 2: * K1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 1" from beg, end on Row 1.
Next Row (WS): Work 5 sts and sl these sts onto a holder, dec 5 sts evenly spaced across remaining sts – 50(56-60-68) sts. Change to larger needles and work even in St st until piece measures 2" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Waist: Dec Row (RS): K2, SSK, k to end. Rep this dec every 1" 4 times more – 45(51-55-63) sts. Piece should measure 6" from beg. Work even until piece measures 7-1/2" from beg, end on WS.
Inc Row (RS): K2, M1k, k to end. Rep this inc every 1/2" 4 times more – 50(56-60-68) sts. Work even until piece measures 12" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Raglan Armhole: Bind off 2(2-6-6) sts at beg of the next row, then p 1 row.
For size Small ONLY: Row 3 (RS): K3, KSP, k to end.
Row 4: Purl. Rep these 2 rows 33 times more.
For sizes Medium, Large and X-Large ONLY: Row 3 (RS): K3, K2SP, k to end.
Row 4: Purl. Rep these 2 rows 3(2-8) times more.
Next Row (RS): K3, KSP, k to end. Purl 1 row. Rep these 2 rows 31(32-28) times more.
For ALL sizes: AT THE SAME TIME, when 20(20-21-21) sts remain on needle and armhole measures 7-1/2(8-8-8-1/2)", end on RS.
Shape Neck (WS): Bind off 5(5-6-6) sts at beg of the next row then, continuing to work armhole decs, dec 1 st at neck edge EVERY row 9 times. Fasten off.

 

RIGHT FRONT
Work same as for left front, reversing all shaping and working waist decs as k2 tog, k2, waist incs as M1k, k2 and armhole decs as sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k3 and sl 1, k1, psso, k3.

 

LEFT SLEEVE
With smaller needles, cast on 57 sts. Work in ribbing same as for back for 1", dec 5 sts evenly spaced across last row and end on WS – 52 sts. Change to larger needles and work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 4th row 0(0-2-11) times, every 6th row 0(5-14-8) times, every 8th row 8(8-0-0) times, then every 10th row 3(0-0-0) times – 74(78-84-90) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 14-1/2(14-1/2-14-1/4-14-1/4)" from beg, end on WS.
Note: Work decs at beg of RS rows as k3, KSP. Work decs at end of RS rows as sl 1, k1, psso, k3. WS rows are always worked even until bind off rows at the end.
Shape Raglan Cap: Bind off 2(2-6-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Work decs at beg of RS rows every 4th row 8(8-9-8) times, then every other row 22(24-22-26) times. Work decs at end of RS rows every 4th row 4(4-5-4) times, then every other row 26(28-26-30) times. When all decs at end of RS rows have been completed, continue to work decs at beg of RS rows and AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 WS rows, then bind off 2 sts at beg of the last 2 WS rows.

 

RIGHT SLEEVE
Work to correspond to left sleeve, reversing shaping of sleeve cap.

 

FINISHING
Steam pieces. Sew raglan sleeve caps to raglan armholes.
Buttonband: With smaller needles, work 5 sts from left front holder, inc 1 st at inside edge – 6 sts. Work in ribbing as established, working inc st in St st until band, when slightly stretched, fits along left front edge to beg of neck shaping, end on WS, decreasing 1 st at end – 5 sts. Sew band in place, adjusting length if necessary. Place sts on a holder. Place markers on band for 6 buttons, the first 1" from lower edge, the last will be at beg of neckband, and 4 others spaced evenly between.
Note: Buttonholes should be worked as rib 2 sts, k2 tog, yo, rib 2 sts.
Buttonhole Band: Work to correspond to buttonband, working buttonholes opposite markers.
Neckband: With RS facing, using smaller needles, work across 5 sts of buttonhole band, pick up and k18(18-19-19) sts along right front neck edge, 11 sts across right sleeve, 31(31-33-33) sts across back neck edge, 11 sts across left sleeve, 18(18-19-19) sts along left front neck edge, then work across 5 sts of buttonband – 99(99-103-103) sts. Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as for back, working last buttonhole after 1/4". When neckband measures 1", bind off all sts in ribbing. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons.
