MATERIALS
BERROCO CHINCHILLA TWEED (50 grs), 24 balls #8641 Cocktail Brown (A).
BERROCO SENSUWOOL (50 grs), 20 balls #6641 Cocktail Brown (B).
29" length circular knitting needle, size 11 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
1 2-1/2" x 1" button from One World Button Supply Co. #NPL179-68.
2 St Holders.
2 St Markers.
GAUGE
5 sts = 2"; 3 rows = 1" in St st with A and B worked tog.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
NOTE
A and B are worked tog throughout.
BACK
With circular needle, using A and B
held tog, cast on 150 sts.
Row 1 (RS): (K2, p2) 3 times, place marker, k126, place marker, (p2, k2) 3 times.
Row 2: (P2, k2) 3 times, p126, (k2, p2) 3 times. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 34" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Neck: Work 68 sts, join another double strand of yarn and bind off center 14 sts, work to end. Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge on next row. Work 1 row even, end on RS. Bind off all sts purlwise.
LEFT FRONT
With circular needle, using A and B held tog, cast on 95 sts.
Row 1 (RS): (K2, p2) 3 times, place marker, k71, place marker, (p2, k2) 3 times.
Row 2: (P2, k2) 3 times, p71, (k2, p2) 3 times. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 24" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Neck: Work to 2 sts before second marker, k2 tog, work to end. Rep this dec every RS row 15 times more – 79 sts. When piece measures 35" from beg, end on WS. Bind off 67 sts, dropping markers, sl remaining 12 sts onto holder.
RIGHT FRONT
Work same as for left front until piece measures 24" from beg, end on WS. Mark end of last row for buttonloop placement.
Shape Neck: Work to first marker, SKP, work to end. Rep this dec every RS row 15 times more – 79 sts. When piece measures 35" from beg, end on WS. Work 12 sts and sl these sts onto holder, bind off remaining 67 sts, dropping markers.
FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams.
Left Neckband: With RS facing, join double strand of yarn and work across 12 sts from holder. Work in ribbing as established until band, when slightly stretched, fits along neck edge to center back. Bind off all sts.
Right Neckband: With RS facing, sl 12 sts from holder to needle. Join yarn and complete to correspond to left neckband.
Sew bound-off ends of neckbands tog. Sew inside edges of neckbands to back neck edge. Make buttonloop from 2 strands of B twisted tog and sew to right front edge at marker. Sew on button opposite buttonloop.
