MATERIALS
BERROCO CHINCHILLA COLORS
(50 grs), 4(5-5-6) balls #5814 Autumn Leaves (MC).
BERROCO SENSUWOOL® (50 grs), 7(8-8-9) balls #6538 Jungle Brown (CC).
Straight knitting needles, sizes 6 and 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
2 stitch holders.
5 BERROCO buttons, #A538 Jungle Brown.

GAUGE
3 sts = 1"; 5 rows = 1" in St st with MC.
5 sts = 1"; 7 rows = 1" in St st with CC.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTE
To avoid unwanted patterning and color repeats, when working with CHINCHILLA COLORS, we recommend that you use 2 balls alternately, working 2 rows with each ball.

BACK
With smaller needles, using CC, cast on 137(149-163-181) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K 1, * p 1, k 1, rep from * across.
Row 2: P 1, * k 1, p 1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows for 2", end on Row 2. Change to larger needles and MC. K the next row, dec 74(80-88-97) sts evenly spaced across - 63(69-75-84) sts. Beg with a p row, work even in St st until piece measures 12-1/2” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side EVERY row 4 times. Work even on 49(55-61-70) sts until armholes measure 8-1/2(9-9-1/2-10)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 5(6-6-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Next Row: Bind off 4(5-6-7) sts, k until there are 5(6-7-8) sts on RH needle, join another ball of MC and bind off center 21(21-23-24) sts for neck, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 4(5-6-7) sts at beg of the next 3 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge once.

LEFT FRONT
With smaller needles, using CC, cast on 74(80-86-96) sts. Work in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 2", end on WS. Change to larger needles and MC. K the next row, dec 34(38-40-46) sts evenly spaced across first 64(70-76-86) sts, sl last 10 sts onto holder for frontband - 30(32-36-40) sts. Beg with a p row, work even in St st until piece measures 12-1/2” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole and Neck: Bind off 3 sts, k to last 2 sts, k 2 tog. Dec 1 st at armhole edge EVERY row 4 times. AT THE SAME TIME, continue to dec at neck edge every 4th row 7(3-8-6) times, then every 6th row 2(5-2-4) times. Work even on 13(16-18-22) sts until armhole measures 8-1/2(9-9-1/2-10)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulder: Bind off 5(6-6-8) sts at beg of the next row, then bind off 4(5-6-7) sts at armhole edge twice.

RIGHT FRONT
With smaller needles, using CC, cast on 74(80-86-96) sts. Work in p 1, k 1 ribbing for 1-1/2”, end on WS.
Buttonhole: (P 1, k 1) twice, bind off next 2 sts, work to end. Next Row: Work in ribbing as established, cast on 2 sts over sts bound off on previous row. Complete to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.

SLEEVES
With smaller needles, using CC, cast on 43(45-47-49) sts. Work in ribbing same as for back for 2", end on Row 2. Change to larger needles and work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 4th row 8(13-14-18) times, then every 6th row 13(10-10-8) times. Work even on 85(91-95-101) sts until sleeve measures 18-1/2(19-19-1/2-20)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 5 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side on every RS row 5 times, end on WS. Bind off remaining 65(71-75-81) sts loosely.

FINISHING
Steam sleeves, steam back and fronts lightly. Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Left Front/Neckband: With RS facing, sl sts from holder onto smaller needle. Join CC and M1 in row below - 11 sts.
Row 1 (RS): P 1, * k 1, p 1, rep from * across.
Row 2: K 1, * p 1, k 1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until band, when slightly stretched, reaches to center of back neck. Sl sts onto holder. Sew inside edge of band to left front and neck edges and along back neck edge to center point. Mark position of 5 buttons, evenly spaced along frontband, the first 1-1/2” above lower edge and the last 1/2” below start of neck shaping.
Right Front/Neckband: Work to correspond to left front/neckband, working M1 at end of Row 1 and making 4 more buttonholes opposite markers on left frontband. Complete same as for left front/neckband. Weave sts of bands together at back neck. Sew on buttons.
