MATERIALS
BERROCO SENSUWOOL® (50 grs), 13(14-14-15) balls #6534 Beaujolais.
Straight knitting needles, sizes 5 and 7 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16" length circular knitting needle, size 5.
1 St Marker.
GAUGE
11 sts = 2"; 8 rows = 1" in Pat St.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
PAT ST
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2: K 6, * p 6, k 6, rep from * across.
Rep these 2 rows for Pat St.
BACK
With smaller straight needles, cast on 98(110-122-138) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K 2, * p 2, k 2, rep from * across.
Row 2: P 2, * k 2, p 2, rep from * across.
Rep these 2 rows for 2", end on WS. Change to larger needles.
Establish Pat St
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2: P 4(4-4-0), work Row 2 of Pat St to last 4(4-4-0) sts, p to end.
Work in pat as established, inc 1 st each side every 8th(8th-10th-10th) row 6(6-5-5) times, working incs in St st. Work even on 110(122-132-148) sts until piece measures 10-1/2 from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, bind off 2(2-3-5) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side EVERY row 4(4-5-6) times. Work even on 88(100-106-116) sts until armholes measure 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2), end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 8(10-11-12) sts at beg of the next row, work until there are 25(29-29-33) sts on RH needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 22(22-26-26) sts, work to end. Bind off 8(10-11-12) sts at beg of the next row, then bind off 9(11-11-13) sts at beg of the next 4 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 4 sts at each neck edge once, then bind off 3 sts once.
FRONT
Work same as for back until armholes measure 6-1/2(7-7-1/2-8), end on WS.
Shape Neck: Work 37(43-44-49) sts, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 14(14-18-18) sts, work to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 3 sts at each neck edge once, bind off 2 sts twice, then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 4 times. AT THE SAME TIME, when armholes measure 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2), bind off 26(32-33-38) sts each side in same manner as for back.
SLEEVES
With smaller straight needles, cast on 46(46-50-50) sts. Work in ribbing same as for back for 2", end on WS. Change to larger needles.
Establish Pat St
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2: P 2(2-4-4), work Row 2 of Pat St to last 2(2-4-4) sts, p to end.
Work in pat as established, inc 1 st each side every 4th row 1(7-10-19) times, then every 6th row 18(14-12-6) times, working incs into Pat St as sts become available. Work even on 84(88-94-100) sts until sleeve measures 17" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 5 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 26(22-28-22) rows, then bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 4(8-6-12) rows. Bind off remaining 10 sts.
FINISHING
Steam pieces (See instructions on page 1). Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at left shoulder seam, pick up and k 23 sts along left front neck edge, pick up and k 14(14-16-16) sts across front neck edge, pick up and k 23 sts along right front neck edge, pick up and k 7 sts along right back neck edge, pick up and k 22(22-24-24) sts across back neck edge, pick up and k 7 sts along left back neck edge - 96(96-100-100) sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Work in k 2, p 2 ribbing for 1". Bind off in ribbing. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
